Probably a no brainer this one, but it ain't in the handbook... The LIGHTS warning light on the dash, illuminates when the lights are on. They all look ok, except one side light is a bit dim. Is this what the warning is referring too? Didn't know it could monitor light bulbs too!

Could be a dodgy earth or fuse.

I think they work on some sort of resistance thing, so if there is a slightly dicky bulbthat may set it off, even though it still works, mine does it whenever i brake, but ive checked all the bulbs and they all work, so i just treat it like an interior brake light!!

Mine might have something to do with the rear fog conversion on the brake lights but i really cant be arsed to mess with it and probably end up with no lights!
