Hi all,

my prop shaft bearings are going (possibly) and I thought I’d look at changing to a single piece as I’ve heard it’s an upgrade as they are lighter.

anyone know anything about them? Where I could get one? Are they an upgrade or am I wasting my limited squids?

I have a few i would part with, What spec do you require? NA/TT - LWB/SWB - Auto/Manual?

Theres no real upgrade to changing to a 1 piece other than the fact you won't ever need to change the bearing again. The two piece units are usually quieter.

LWB, manual, TT mate. How much for the prop shaft?

Good to know about the bearings. It’s going in the garage next month so will let you know if that’s the problem.

how much noisier are they?

I use a steel 1 piece with no NVH issues.

Its the aluminium ones that sometimes make noise, clocking it sometimes helps though.. Copied this text below from czp

"Note: ALL aluminum driveshafts will exhibit a metallic resonating noise that the original 2pc steel driveshaft naturally dampens. This is normal and will not affect performance, but if you are concerned about cabin noise, you may prefer a Steel Driveshaft, which still provides significant weight savings over the OEM driveshaft, but is going to run quieter than aluminum. Inland Empire now also offers a foam filling option for aluminum driveshafts, which significantly reduces noise and resonance without adding any noticeable weight. This is the best weight to enjoy buttery smooth operation while still getting the weight savings of an aluminum driveshaft.

I bought and fitted aluminium one piece shaft from CZP and i had it filled to stop vibrations , think it was about £400 shaft, filling and carriage.

Had no problems with it ,  On for about eight years now.

Do you still have any prop shafts left that’ll fit a NA Manual Lwb?

I actually get a noise from my one piece prop shaft which I believe to be aluminium. Get a rumble at low rpm under load. Been told it needs balancing?

One piece propshaft will definitely be smoother and no centre bearing to deal with again, the centre bearing cost used to be quite reasonable but 2012 shot up in price.and ended up costing near as much as a propshaft conversion.
