Hi There!

I have a full unorthodox Lightweight Pulley set up on my zed. I've noticed on the Power Steering Pully the belt keeps jumping over a notch. I've had this seen to on numerous occasions but it keeps happening. This type of pulley doesn't have "shoulders" to prevent this occurring. Do you think it's the pulley itself or something more sinister? the mechanic at the time who put the belt back on (after my water pump went) said there's a bit of play in the pump itself that could be causing the belt to jump...should there be play in the pump?

I thinking about replacing the pulley with one with increased shoulder height but was wondering whether i'd need a new pump as well?

Thanks in advance.

Andy

I have 2 cars with Unorthodox pulleys, fitted no less than 5 other unorthodox pulleys to other peoples cars. Never seen a belt jumping problem. Are you using a belt with the correct amount of ribs?

I Put an unorthodox pulley, a GFB pulley & a AMS pulley on a crank balancing maching to see if they were balanced perfectly. The Unorthodox was old and used the other 2 were new and the only pulley that didn't require drilling a hole in the back to get it dead on was the unorthodox, it's all just a bit of aluminium but for the reasons i have just mentioned im of the opinion unorthodox pulleys are quality units.

You have a problem somewhere im sure.
