Hi all. 1 week into ownership and smiling lots. I have a 1989/90 300ZX Twin Turbo with auto. I need advice on (a) what petrol do i use. The garage that sold it said unleaded is fine, but is premium unleaded better? (2) what oil is best for the engine? (3) where i can pick up a new or refurbished electric aerial? Any help and i will be eternally grateful. regards ian.

Hi welcome aboard,

If you do a search I think you'll find that a lot of people(myself included) use Shell Optimax fuel and a good quality synthetic oil.

As far as the arial goes try Andy Z in the Trading section.

Cheers,

F.T.

Ian,

Fuel, is yours a UK or J'Spec?

Uk cars should be fine on standard U/L, but J'Spec benefits from a higher octane fuel such as Optimax or Super U/L, having said that I used to run my J'spec on standard U/L without any detramental effect.

Oil, Hmm contentious issue here, do a search and draw your own conclusions. I would say however the one thing we all agree on is that it should be a Fully Synthetic oil.

Electric ariel, does the motor still work? If it does then is it just a broken mast? If so these are available from Nissan for approx £55.

thanks F.T. will try the fuel and oil out and the website. Brill.

Tony's right, OPTIMAX is a must imho.(Jap spec) Castrol RS 10w60 is my fav oil, I was going to say don't skimp on your oil, but hey, if you're a lawyer then you have money to burn............aswell as oil!:D

Welcome and enjoy!

Hello Mate,

The highest readily available octane petrol is shell Optimax 98.6 octane! If you can't use that then use the highest available octane you can get!

The oil should be any good quality fully synthetic oil, changed with the filter every 3000 miles!

There have been mass debates, lol, about this in the past do a search on it and see the various opinions on the forum!

The electric aerial, do a search on TT.net I think I might have seen a fix for them, or buy a used one from Andy Z.

Youve used the correct two keywords, cue a response from nelson very soon!!!:D :D :D

Or if Andy doesnt have an aerial, try Mike Feeney at MJP.
