Just a word to the wise

 

recently got fed up with the tatty state of the front bumper on my 1990 TT jap import. Asked Nissan for a new one and was told they could not supply. apparently the 99+ front bumper is now "original" spec.

 

Called insurers with this "modification and had to fight like a git until they saw my point. They even called Nissan to find out if I was lying or not (trust is a beautiful thing),

 

So if your old front bumper is bad, get a 99+ style. It cannot be classed as a modification, new laws on plates mean that you get a nice small front number plate and the 99+ bumper looks the balls. Nissan just get it so right sometimes.

The plus is the new front also supposedly lowers the Drag coefficient and only costs around 380 pounds with side lights from MJP :D

Has anyone got prices on the sideskirts yet? last time i checked they were around 600 pounds? :S

Well it look like a few of us will be accidentally crashing the front of our Z's into a wall at some point over the next couple of weeks ;). Obviously only enough to right off the front bumper. The time is right to lower that excess :D

Not sure what you mean about the plate? I know the mount for the plate is small -but you're still gonna have to fix a full size one on there!

New laws mwan that you have to take the logbook and things to the shopwhen you need a new number plate. Upside is that the small front number plate mount can now legally be fitted with a small number plate (before you had to say it was a display plate only).

 

In addition I think (correct me on this one) I think it only applies to imported cars, as this would be the "normal" plate in the country of export. still, if the 99+ spec is now Nissans standard, it should apply for all UK Zeds fitted with the part too.....hmmm

 

Still, get one...they look the balls, especially with the small number plate

I think it does only apply to Jap imports. So all the Fairlady drivers can do it but not the UK 300ZX.

However it would be interesting though if you had a UK car and said that you have a 99 spec front bumper which was not designed for a UK sized plate and would disrupt the airflow to the radiator.
