Can anyone tell me if the inlet camshafts have any form of keyway on them, if not hows the best way to time them as i dont have the rocker covers off. Am about to replace the camshaft seals, the exhaust cams have 4 bolts on them so thats no problem to mark when taking off the pulley wheels.

Any help appreciated

You cant do this wrong.

There is only one way the intake pulley fits the cam.

Remove the four small bolts and the cover, a spring will fall out

and dont loose the o-ring. Then loosen(not sure how to spell this)

the bolt in the center. Easy:)

Cheers Viper yer spellings good haha. I just like to know what happens b4 i loosen things i am not sure about. I am at the stage where i am now about to loosen the tensioner.

Sorry if this sounds stupid but PLEASE make sure the cams are lined up to their markings b4 undoing the tensioner - this is the point of no return ;) If you're removing the intake cam sprockets, get a 12mm spanner with an extension on it to put through the holes in the sprocket, onto the rear cover bolt behind it. You need a fair amount of torque to undo the centre nut ;) Have fun ;)

I have lined everything up Andy and have left my car tonight at the point where i am gonna loosen the tensioner. Everything has lined up so it must have been spot on b4.

make sure you loosen the camshaft bolt first before removing tension on cambelt as it makes it hard to undo with camshaft moving about.

just my two penny's worth.

Thanks for all the replies.

I have got all the pulley wheels off now, Syko, I got one of my workmates to buzz the bolts off with an airgun while i held the pulleywheels so the bolts loosened no problem. I have changed the 2 inlet cam seals butthe leak looks like it has been coming from the passenger side inlet and exhaust seals as when i took the cam cover backplate off, the oil can be seen building at the bottom of the 2 holes for the camshafts to sit through and running down.

WOOOHOOOO i have found the leak at last.
