Hi all, I had new front tyres fitted to the Z today and it was a high performance tyre speciallist who did it for me. After messing about trying to get one of his trolley jacks under the car I finally got the tyres done. I asked if they could do the tracking for me and without any hesitation they said NO:mad: Sorry mate it's a specialists job on one of those!! I have also tried 3 or 4 other places and they all give me the same response.

Is this right?? is it a specialists job or is it that they can't be bothered. What are your experiances with tracking and can someone like ATS do it???

Cheers

Glenn

That's more or less what I said to them, OH!! we are tyre specialists and not a garage was the response. Won't be going there again. Tyres were cheap though £120 each fitted and balanced Bridgestone SO2's 235x40x18.

Hi'

I had tracking done twice at Kwik Fit - no problem.

Yours,

Geoff.

Thanks geoff, I will have a go at our local Kwick Fit tomorrow. As far as I know it's straight forward enough to check the tracking on a Z. Could be wrong Though:rolleyes:

Think he said they normally charge £20 for tracking. No good charging £20 when they can't do it though. I think the problem with Z's is they frighten garages that don't have a lot to do with them.

How do you know if you had a good job of the tracking?

> I've had to use the Z for work due to a muppet writing off my van. Done about 1800 miles untill I bought a vew van OK so what.

but the N/S 18" so2's have gone to half of the O/S tread.

& I had the laser tracking done not too long ago:( It feels absolutly fine to drive but the tread wear is a bit conserning.

Front ties new, nothing I can see is wrong & never stuffed.

At £big ea, off the shelf im open to advice.

Glenn - where di you get your new tyres from?

Hi Cos, Jim Jeffreys Performance tyres in Warrington, Cheshire.

Glenn

PS Great tyres but no good at tracking.

The cost at Kwik fit for tracking was around £20 - it seemed to make a difference when I first had it done. And by the way I used them for tyres as well - and battery.

Geoff.

glenn do you ever go to any of those cruises in warrington?

Anywhere with a four wheel laser alignment machine should be able to do it - afterall, the machines tell them what the tow in settings etc should all be anyway!

I had mine done at ProTyre in Slough - just a normal tyre place..

Just a shame I can't get on their tracking machine ramps without leaving half the underside of my car stuck to the ramps

Hi Scoops, unfortunatly I have never had chance to go on a Warrington cruise, always either away or to busy. Have you been on one?? If so what's it like ???

Hi Aaron, know what you mean about the underneath of your car and the ramps. My Z is very badly scuffed underneath from ramps. Also from some muppet who has used a trolley Jack under the wings:eek:

Glenn

That's camber, not tracking and is not adjustable on the Zed (with standard parts). However, if ChrisC's camber adjusting doodahs ever turn up, then I'd think you'll be wanting a set, either that or it's adjustable toplinks, which cost a few squid !

Mine's much the same on the underside - everything is very dinged and dented..

And guess what - my front drivers jacking point has been destroyed in exactly the same way :(

Not sure if it was ProTyre, or whether it was like that before though.

You would think that these so called experts would know how to jack a car up properly.
