Just spoke with my MOT centre, I am advised that aftermarket HID's are no longer permissible,

So, need to return the vehicle to stock bulb configuration, it is a Jap import, so what type of bulb do I need please ??, and what is the very brightest bulb that I could put in place of the HID,

Thanks

If you hide the ballasts and have them on the dipped beam and properly aligned how are they going to know ?

It's bloody crazy banning them when are obviously a safety aid if properly installed.

I put !00 watt bulbs in before I did the conversion to HIDs but beefed up the wiring a bit

On another note, do any LED headlights fit the ZED ? They may be an option !

For ease , and the associated pain of having to take my car back for a retest if they pick up on the fact it has HID ballasts fitted, then ill just put normal bulbs in, question is , what type of bulb is it for a Jap import,

Thanks

maybe the startup delay?

i bought some but the rear cooling section is large and awkward with the retaining clip and the access. i think you could only fit them if you remove the lights...

Whilst we are all fully aware of the law changes - and are mindful of the delayed start-up of HID headlights, these cars are pretty much off the radar to most people. Garages included....

…...So I'd personally take the chance - I mean, would the tester ever know the HIDs were actually aftermarket? We have projector lenses, just like modern cars with HIDs, so might just get away with it!! What's the worst that can happen - we get a fail and have to switch back to H3 (H3C for imports)… But if it does get overlooked, hell, that's a few less scratched hands attempting to change bulbs for just a day...:wink:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I found that if you switch HIDs on and off a few times they come on without any delay for quite a while
