I thought that title would get your attention!

But my car is like a big vibrator!

Driving home today along the good old M4,I noticed my car was vibrating, not much but enough for me to pull onto the hard shoulder to check the wheels.

I could feel it litrally through the seat of my pants!

I can't find anything obvious and will go to my local tyre place tommorrow to get balancing and tracking checked, although I only had it done about 4 months ago when I had new tyres!

Hopefully it's nothing too expensive!!

Cheers,

F.T.

I would start thinking propshaft centre bearing and possibly rear gearbocx mount. Try a search, there's been plenty posted on this in the past. There is also a tech article on the Aus forum about it.

I would start giving lifts to attractive women, and see if it gets them HOT !!;) ;) :D

i had something simailar, and i had all sorts of expensive things running thru my head, but recently i changed the 2 front tyres, and bugger me what a difference, naybe you just had a balancing weight fall off or something.. hopefully

check that one of your calipers is not siezing on. should show up by one wheel being a lot hotter than the other. this happened to me the other day!

Kris

Took my Z to local tyre firm today and they checked everything and sorted out my front wheels, which they said were"slightly out of balance".

Drove home...f**k me what a diference!

Just goes to show that if things aren't perfect on these cars then they certainly tell you.

I was expecting major bills to get this sorted, but in the end it cost bugger all(they did it for free....which was nice!)

Thanks again for all your help and advice.

Cheers,

F.T.

What a T***T I am!!

Ignore my last thread, the problem has NOT been cured!

Andy, I think what you have said could be right(bugger!)so I've booked my Z in with my mechanic tommorrow morning.

What should I tell him to look for?

Is it obvious once he gets the car up on the ramps?

My car is my daily drive so unfortunately the parts will have to be either from Nissan or whoever delivers to garages(motorfactors).

Any help on any of this is gratefully appreciated.

Oh how nieve I was to think that wheel balancing cured it!

Cheers,

F.T.

It will be pretty obvious if the centre bearing is completely shot because the rubber support around it collapses completely. (I think there is a photo of it on Jeff's site). Your mechanic should spot that immediately. Another contributing factor is the rear gearbox support which sags over time. The bad news is that both of the are parts exclusive to Nissan. Centre bearing is around £150 and the support is about £45. Better start calling Mike Feeney I reckon ...

Thanks Andy,

Can Mike get the parts cheaper?

I'll ring him in the morning if that's the case.

If it turns out he's got the parts and they are a lot cheaper then I'll go and get them from him.

But is it safe to carry on driving my Z with this problem?

Cheers,

F.T.
