Im sure one of you IT bods should know what the hell this is,

 

I've spent 18 HOURS!! downloading getaway in stockholme 3 on Kazaa and now i try to play it it says i need to install a xvid codec to play it, i have found a few places and downloaded stuff from them but nothing seems to work.

 

Im sure someone on this forum with all their video making abilities have mastered it, any help greatly appreciated.

 

Im running windows XP if that is of any consequence, god i hate being crap at computers. :confused:

Once you have installed this it should play.

Sorry just double checked ant the codec doesn't seam to be on there.

I tried that one but couldnt find anything that worked, bummer.

and good luck,its as stable as a chocolate teapot,why they tried to develop this MPEG-4 type codec is beyond me,if you down load it it probably wont work,it will screw up your system/graphic card anyway,its still in beta form,bugs all over the place,i got onto it a few weeks back by accident,best thing to do at the moment is keep ya file,wait a few weeks for the update realease thats on its way,if you do download the codec,let us know how you get on,personaly i am stayin well clear of it!cheers,Tony

 

ps its mainly for developers to play with,i dont think there is a single codec to download,you sort of have to build it out of a number of programes/commandlines etc:confused:

Cheers Tony, i think i'll take your advice and wait, seeing as im doing all this on my brothers pc and he'll batter me if i screw it up. I had already tried downloading all that stuff on that div digest thing but i couldnt make head nor tail of it. Is it just cos its very new that you cant just download a player for it, or is it just cos its shite???

At least ive got getaway in stockholm 2 on media player, thats bloody fantastic.

Hi mate,i dont think there is a seperate player,it seems to play in Windows Media Player,just uses it as a medium to play the files,to be honest its a dissaster waiting to happen,best wait for the up date to come out,cheers mate;)

My brother managed to do a bit of jiggery pokeryon it then burn it onto cd for me it now plays on a dvd player, ive got getaway in stockholm 1, 2 and 3 now and theyre awsome:D
