Don't know why on this freezing morning I decided to do a few bits on the Z -but there you go. Got a new fuel filter to chuck on and was just wondering if the old one will be under pressure and I will get a face full of petrol as I disconnect it?

Also was going to give the AAC valve a little clean out as I did the throttle bodies a few weeks ago but not sure where this is or what it/they look like? at the back of the plenum?

Thanks alot guys........

James.

The fuel filter is not really under pressure. You wont get a face full of fuel but petrol will pur out of the filter and lines for a few seconds.

As long as it's changed when th engine is cold you are ok. the warmer the engine the more pressure in the pipes.

Just to be on the safe side you can remove the fuel pump relay and start the engine until it stalls. This will ensure there is no preassue in the pipe work. There will still be fuel in the pipes though so get your kitchen roll or old towels ready.

Changed mine last weekend. :) But then I put mine on back to front because I'm such a donut !!!. Don;t worry I realised before I'd finished thejob and I didn't start the car :).

They say to disconnect the relay on the drivers foorwell (big green one) then turn ignition over a couple of times to drain the line. Dont think this is required though. I did it a couple of weeks ago and damaged the relay taking it off. Its quite an awkward little bugger.

So James how did you get on ?.

All done or have you put it off for another day. ? ;)

FFS no way am I typing that bloody aac valve procedure out again!!! :D LOL Here's the link to another post with it in....

Fuel filter - just wrap a cloth round it and cut the line - IMO you should replace the fuel hoses anyway as they go quite brittle etc from the heat...
