Very proud new owner SWB SLICKTOP MANUAL pearl comming from Japan!

Posted

Like to say a very big thanks to club Importer Garry/GazWoz who made this happen!

She was manufactured in October 96 with 43k on the clock one owner from new!

I'm over the moon with excitement first time ever getting one from an auction in Japan.

The only thing now I have to wait 8 weeks at least for it to land in the UK, then Gary is getting the roof and bonnet resprayed in white to match the rest of the car and getting everything else ready as well with the registration etc for me to pick up.

I'm just looking at ordering a new OEM steering wheel gear knob and a few other interior bits to make it look like brand new. I've got some brand new confetti Recaro seats already that I did not put into my Supra as I sold that last week.

I've all way's wanted a Fairlady Z fresh from JP my plan now with the Z is to make it look like it just rolled out from the assembly line and look after her.

I'll probably drop a twin-turbo lump in her later on in the future 550ps anyone?

This is a great club to be a part of definitely my favourite lots of good advice and friendly enthusiasts.

His name is s13 Silvia, I don't think there is one of those that isn't made of cardboard so relatively it must be good!

That's very true, had 3x s13silvias, 4x s13 200sx's, 1x 180sx kouki, 1x s12 silvia and 1xs14a 200sx.. and without doubt they are surely the most rust-prone cars known to man - unless it's imported within 4 years or been utterly cherished and garaged over winter, there's a good chance it's a rustbucket.

It honeslty makes me wonder sometimes how the s13's are going for the insane money they are now, they were a bag of shit when £1k was top money. Now they're 8k more, and have 10 years further rusting on them - im surprised they can sustain the weight of a driver without collapsing!

90's Micras suffer exactly the same (k11), no matter how clean they look on the outside, get in about it and it'll have paper-thin metal everywhere. The paint has more structural integrity!

Just a side point there, as I saw a pic near the top, please spend the extra money to get a paint job rather than wrapping, wrapping looks like utter trash compared to paint no matter how much you spend or how fancy the finish.

Take a look at this slicktop for ideas. It has a black painted top. '99 spec front bumper and '99 spec rear lights. It also has the

TwinZ Type 1 rear spoiler which runs a second to the best one (IMO) that being the OEM '89 spec.

Yeah that looks pretty awesome Rockin the BBS LMs

Shame about the colour though

 gives me some good ideas.

Even though I have a convertible TT I mis my slicktop they are becoming more rare you’ll love it .!

Congrats, she looks lovely & nice to have another white one in the fold ;-)

I also have a white 96 with a black roof but have a 99 spec front bumper & have a replacement fiberglass black bonnet to go on.

Enjoy & good luck with her

Yeah that's a good point well I've got eight weeks to make my mind up lol just looking around now for some bits getting at 99 bumper sorted out with the 99 rear lights etc etc

congrats on the new wheels, health to drive..

im looking for a front bumper if you decide to buy a 99 spec...

It's not the same as mine but you're right it's similar.

Mine's a JUN, it's a bit more rounded that that one. I may have to change it now I've learned it's not on the Approved Funky list of bumpers ;-)

Congratulations on the new purchase mate.....

.....And I reckon Andrew has a point there! Sure, get the bonnet sprayed, but leaving the roof black will look very good indeed. IMO, of course!

As for it not being so obvious to see that it's a slick-top, I personally would not care. A slick-top only means something in our small-300zx-owning community; to the wider population, it's just another dead cool looking car...

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Did my front Roof bar last year & will do the rear this year.image.jpeg

That looks HOT rocking the 99 lights 350z wheels and 99 wing mirrors. Can't wait till the summer for some club meets.

Not 99 wing mirrors fyi. They are stock with the indicator strip moulded in. 99 mirrors are the same to my knowledge

Alright I didn't know that I'm still finding out things about this chassis, my background is Mark 4 Supra Mitsubishi GTO and Toyota Soarer. There's loads of little things to learn about them with the different specs with S and R different series things as well. I've got a few books today have ordered from Japan so I can get some good ideas! I'm definitely getting a 99 OEM bumper sent to Gary to get fitted along with the 99 rear lights centrepiece and the strip above. I'm just shocked to see how expensive the LED lights are £1800 is a shocking price and definitely not worth it? Are they even made out of glass the Supra lights quite expensive now but these are like three times more money nearly. Screenshot_20180303-124319.jpg

Led lights? Are we talking about the front lights? They are all glass regardless of spec. 99 have a different internal shroud with different hid xenon projectors.

I personally prefer the black shrouded earlier spec ones.

Yes front projector lights, well that's handy that they're are actually all made from glass a lot of the other cars that I've owned Mitsubishi GTO and mk4 Supra headlights are in plastic and some are glass obviously the glass is more expensive and sought after. Yeah I agree with you after comparing the two I think the older ones do look quite nice a good Polish up if need be and maybe respray the black housing look spot on. The side lights will be replaced with the open inserts and sprayed white to match. I need some help with the steering wheel I've got the one with the airbag in it do I get it refurbished or does anybody have a link to a new one? If not I might replace it with a nardi dish black leather with red stitching. Screenshot_20180303-133015.jpg

Sweet z32 with an aftermarket bumper.

You get it refurbished with Mondo, be as good as new after - keep oem do not do the latter.

Perhaps consider the earlier non airbag wheels I prefer them

Consider it no.....

He has a 96 car, he keeps his '96 wheel with a working airbag.

If he wants a 91 steering wheel then he buys a 91 car, check out about post 338 for my retrimmed beautiful alcantara wheel.

Thanks for your suggestion that's exactly what I will do!

Hopefully can do some red stitching in around it too much the new gear shifter knob. The only other thing left to get for interior wise is get a new leather Shifter boot with the handbrake boot leather trim not the low-grade stuff from eBay I want high grade leather so it looks OEM with a nice bit of red stitching around it maybe? But i Don't know where to get them from except for the gear knob I can get that from the Z Centre with the rest of the OEM bits. I love the OEM recaros the blue or the red ones you get in the later spec but I think they will be impossible to get? I've got brand new Recaro confetti seats that we're going to go in the Supra but I think these will look pretty nice got the HKS theme with purple stitching. But if I did see the OEM Recaro so I would probably sell these and stick those in....DSC_1603.jpg

It was a 3.5 grade in auction but after all the work what gets done it should bump it up to a 4.5

The version R Recaro seats (blue) and version S seats (red, not Recaro) do pop up from time to time, but you're looking at shipping from Japan. Not cheap, but certainly not crazy if you want them.

I wouldn't hang up too much on the auction grade either, as they're variable; mine was also 3.5 but would easily have made 4 in most auction houses.
