i am looking at an integra type R tomorrow, great track car for sure.

cheers

lexus soarer looks good..hmmm

I thought the blocks on Skyline's were bullet proof, being made out of cast steel or something? -which enables some monsters to have 1000 bhp. R32'S are often rated above the later 33's and 34's but in my opinion not in looks! And a car has to look good as well as go erm, good !

I think you should buy John's beast!

johns car has been sold.

Lexus Soarer's are very under-rated, give one a go. I knew of this performance car garage that lent out its tt Soarer to customers while they had their regular car. After 5 mins of them driving off they would get a phone call asking what the f*ck is this car !? I want one.......and these were customers that were dropping in 355's.

so i test drove an integra type r and a bmw 2.8i coupe to day

integra. quite nippy and the vtec was great fun, enormous roar from the engine as the vtec comes in and the road hold round round abouts was second to none and would leave a zed for dust for sure. however the torque was not there over 120. the car lost umph, low gears wear a blast but it was lost in 5 really, unlike the zed:D . overall this car would be a blast for track days, but its performance isnt that of a zed:( , but hey! you can scream the crap out of these engines day in and day out!!:D :D :D

bmw. good smooth power throughout the rev range, but the manicness that the integra delivers os not there, the bwm is more refined, but certainly a quality piece of kit. still seemed a bit dull, perhaps the M3 evo should be tried and i should up my budget to say 13-15k.

so i stil am not sure what to buy and will think about it a bit longer. thing is i have been bitten by the ZED bug and anything else seems a bit bland and slow compared to it.

cheers

steve

If your talking 10 grand why dont you buy 2 zeds, then if you break one you can use the other, or have one for track and one for road.

10k might be lucky to get a Maserati Ghibli 2 ...Scorchers !

Oh I nearly forgot .... Subaru Legacy GT - Twin Turbo.

Barnstomer.

If you want to go faster than the zed for £10000 why not try a TVR Griffith/Chimaera.

You can get a m/n reg Chimaera for the money and eat a zed in the dry (anything above 4.0ltr). They also sound the bo**ocks!

Chimaera is the "soft" option (if there is a soft TVR) Griffith more hardcore. Only 2 seats but not bad boots, shelf behind seats and targa/full open roof!.

:D

just be done man and get a supra, i went to work the other day and i saw 7 porsches, and i always thought porsche;s were a bit special, but infact theyre a bit common, far more common than zeds or supras.. that made me feel quite good

Don't get a TVR if you're not keen on spending lots of cash keeping it in tip-top condition.

Great cars but you've got to remember - they're handbuilt, low volume, British sports cars - they just aren't going to be as reliable as a Japanese car. I think they'd make the perfect 2nd car.

What about a Porsche 968 ClubSport - that's ALL GOOD for trackdays. One of the best handling cars ever. It won't depreciate either.

Or go a bit daft and get a C4/ C5 Corvette. The newer ones lose virtually all their value in the first few years over here and you can pick up some pretty new, 5.6litre V8, FAST bits of kit for not a lot of cash. And they've got Head Up Display - How cool?

There are some specialised dealers around who have loads of them: Claremont Corvette, DART corvette. both around Kent area.

Ok £10K, ive had 2 Porsche 911's and they were great but didint have the power of many turbo cars, but are great to look at. They hold their money aswell and they sound brill.

Ive had the Subaru, and for 10K you will be able to get a very nice R/S plate import which will definetly be quick as i had the rally version which had the short shift gearbox in it, 280 BHP and it was quick. Its an option but doesnt look really like a sports car, very reliable though.

Ive had the EVO IV and that was a blast and i saw one the other day for 8.5 k it was the rally version light weight, cracking cars which are better in my opinion than the scoobies in handling. They havent got the looks though.

TVR's are unreliable as my brother hs had one for 4 years and they keep going wrong, bits keep dropping off.

Supra is the best bet 10k should get u a 94/95 and they are nice manual 6 speed version is rare, they are very reliable though if you get a good one.

All the best

Ray

In my experience TVRs are not unreliable. However, they do make the Z look cheap to run. You just have to get a well looked after one and that means a TVR history.

For a driving experience I've never had anything better. My Z was a touch quicker (around 430 bhp) but my Chimaera was the most fun car I've ever had.

Dave

P.S. If you are interested, look at the Grif & Chimaera. Although the Chimaera has 2 less seats, the seats you're losing are TINY and you get a lot more boot space in the Chimaera. In fact, by Z standards it's huge !

Christ that's freaky, I was talking to the guy selling that skyline today at work!!

Wild Turkey - Take some of the things suggested here out for a test drive (I assume your not in a great rush) and if they don't stand up to the Zed, get another! :D

At least you know what to look for this time round

Best of luck whatever you decide to do

No contest - buy another Z. IMHO. At least you'll know what to look for!

Good luck - Gio

not sure on that skylark, may go well but im sure its not everyones cup o cha looks wise, way too much in ya face for me. but then i dont like evos or scoobies either. looks like it kinda took a trip to the gym and took 1 to many steroids with those bulges.

why not go for the newest zed possible , ive seen one on autotrader going for 8995 1996 n reg pearl green.

I am sure that the green Z is an NA :(

I looked cos I liked the colour.

Why not a Lotus. What they going for?

Stuart

ok, i have decided on something a which i can push quite hard............BMW M3, alright i know there are lots around, but you just cant beat german engineering. the one i have found is one owner, has mobil 1 track record, FBMWSH and everything in its life has been done at the BMW garage. the guy is selling it cos he just order his new M3:D . so this car has been superbly looked after and may last a while. its not a zed, but i just cant handle going back to the zed in the short term after the shit it gave me over the last year. i owned the zed 9 months, drove it for 3 months, and it spent the pther 6 months in the garage, i kid you not.

so RAC check is being done on the M3 and i will go from there.

cheers

steve

Yeah-there are a few around but I think its quite a good choice. I would go for n/a power over turbo, still love my Z to bits though!!

Good luck with you German choice.

Understated cars

The M3 is a superb car and is not slugish at all, check this out its on the lancer register its a guy who raced his Lancer EVOVIIRs against a BMW M3.

go to the forums page and then click on blah blah and the first topic should be PULLED AGAINST AN M3.

I like your idea of the Bently Turbo - great value and great looks - and everyone will worship you! But it's a totally different kind of car - drivewise and handling - so I imagine, as I've never driven one. But eventually I'd like one - but it would have to be 2nd to the ZX. If your looking at an alternative grand tourer/sports car there really is'nt much to beat the ZX in looks and power!!!

Geoff.

yeh, got the RAC report and the diff is noisy as hell and there is a tappett issue, plus the guy wants top dollar. its a nice car, but for 10k is there a zed out there with new engine, turbos, bodykit, and all the work done for me?
