My centre bearing on my auto TT needs replacing according to its previous owner. What exactly should I be feeling through the car if this is so? At the moment there is a vibration that runs through the car at higher revs, is this right? Also what kind of price is a new front bumper?

I am trying very hard to persuade my mrs that we need to keep the car ;) as I really like it.

You tend to get a vibration that starts above about 30mph and gets a bit worse, but can smooth out completely at certain speeds. On mine it was also worse when cold. You feel the vibes throught the seat/transmission tunnel rather than through the steering wheel. Also, it will be proportional to road speed rather than engine revs and will not disappear if you dip the clutch.

That sounds about right mate,at some speeds it is non existent and at others it feels like you are in a massage chair :)

How much would you like for the spare bearing mate.

How about the prop and bearing for £50 ? Then it's a simple bolt-on jobbie and you don't need pullers to change the bearing over. Also, I'm not too far away and you can collect it quite easily.

That sounds like a good deal mate. Is the job not too much of a pain in the ar*e then.

Couldn't do it myself becuase I couldn't get the car far enough off the ground. Took my mechanic mate up the road about 40mins.

If it isn't you can have your money back. Removing it from the shaft might damage it though. It came off my car when I did the auto/manual conversion and it's done about 45,000 miles.

OK mate that sounds fair enough. If i can use your shaft instead then i will be ok i guess as it does not have to be removed.
