I need to find two turbos to replace mine that are smoking (underage ofcourse, not sure who is supplying them with fags, but nevermind...) Depending on price I wil consider stock or upgraded. The car has stock everything, but has been mapped already.

Im also looking for a boost controller and a turbo timer

Thanks in advance!

*Auto turbos FYI

It's a manual car, will that matter if they are auto turbos?
Well the auto ones are just smaller. I can't see why they wouldn't fit, all manifolds and fittings are the same.
Does smaller translate to less power or the same?
Yes less power, though hard to gauge as the proposed power figures from factory were never accurate enough.

I don't know how big the difference is per say, but some say 300bhp for manuals and 280bhp for autos with smaller cam's and turbos to help elongate the life of the auto transmission.

Lol, always makes me smile when the old wife`s tales come out, not your fault really more of a chinese whispers thing really.

So the turbo`s are the same size so will fit either manual or auto, but have different specification to suit the transmission/ camshafts, take a moment and think about all of the zeds converted from auto to manual gearbox, if it was such and issue then there would be many disappointed owners.

In the real world there is no actual power difference at the wheels between the two transmissions, the 300 / 280 bhp thing also gets cited between import and UK spec zeds and is... untrue.

The import zeds have an adjustable throttle stop on the plenum to reduce wide open throttle, this alegedly was so Jdm zeds could pass the manufactures agreement on power output been no higher than 280 bhp. Again real world, never seen any zeds come from Japan with the stops set to limit wide open throttle, but this is where the 280 / 300 bhp thing started off.

So back to the auto turbo`s, when fitted to a manual actually spool up a little earlier ( and quicker ) so actually will feel better 95% of the time, flat out top speed boost maybe effected negatively but who drives at 180 miles an hour on normal roads ??

Fitting auto turbo`s should in theory then feel better, this all real world feel of course, sure someone will know the technical differences on paper look less powerful....just ignore.

Nice to have a bit of clarity. It's more a minor difference not worth switching auto turbos to manual ones.

Side note, are the auto turbos still suitable for a t28 hybrid rebuild replacing the compressor side?

Cool, thanks Jeff. I just wanted to make sure they would fit and if it would be a noticeable change in power, but to be honest as long as they fit and don't smoke ill be happy! Then I will finally have a TT on the road!

I have a pair of Nissan stock turbos off a UK spec manual Z that I own. They have done about 40,000 miles. I don't know if they are of interest to you?

I also have a set of UK spec original Z32 wheels with tyres if of use.

Regards
