I really want to chrome my head lights but chrome them for real is something that nobody can do here in my country.

If i am not mistaken someone in here has used chrome paint for the job.

Do u think its a good idea to use chrome paint or am i going to have any issues later on?

I think the only problem you may encounter is heat.

Most paint will blister under heat but I dont know if there is enough heat inside the light unit to cause it to blister.

Why dont you try chroming it yourslef. Its only like thick Kitchen foil that you put glue into it.

I think you're talking about the now infamous 'Bacofoil' upgrade:

Lights by Alcan!

I am amazed. Thats a very clever way of doing it. Thanks guys.

I remember arguments with some say it looks crap and some say it looks good.

Some say it makes no difference and some say it does.

Well apart from when it catches fire and burns your car down mid summer :D it has never really been proven to make the results better.

At the end of the day somone needs to take a pic at night with stock light looking at the car and then one with the sandwich wrap on it.

Mmm...anyone got it done here? any comments.

Well - I am going to quash this ONCE AND FOR ALL!

I have bought myself a pair of spare head lights and I have Baco foiled them. I also have a video camera. I am going to take some footage with the standard setup over the next few days AND THEN, do the same when the baco foiled torches are in.

I will then try and copy it to an AVI or MPEG for your viewing pleasure.

Obviously, I am going to use the same bulbs as so to keep a common ground. If it works, which I have on good authority by 2 people that it does, then we should all be happy.

Oh, and just so that you know what you are undertaking if you decide to have a go yourselves, the first light took me 6 and half hours, and the second one took me 3 and 3 quarter hours. Belive me, there was a lot of swearing involved. If you decide to do your own, without the use of some spare lights, makes sure you have lots of spare time or a spare car.

:D Cos

did it pass the mot with it though?

Scoops - By that comment, I am assuming that you think that they would not pass.

Not having a go, just curious as to why you think that?

dont get the wrong end of the stick matey.. no sarcasm or slant of knowitallness intended, i'm just genunely interested to see if it would pass, i mean the light is gonna be bouncing around all over the place in a bacofoiled environment like that. its just something i was thinking of thats all. I mean if it passes the thats great and i might get one myself as i reckon the standeard lights are just down right dangerous.

No probs scoops.

I didnt think that you were having a go, however, from what I remember, JeffTT's Z passed the MOT with no problems. MACCA, when is your MOT due?

Hello NitroPow, I have seen a few of your posts now saying "in my country". I'm just curious, I assume from your location you are in London/England or is this London/Canada or somewhere else ?

Sorry :) I should update my profile.

I used to stay in North London for the last 8 years but now I moved to Cyprus. ( I was the only one born in Cyprus from my Cousins. They are all from UK)

Ah, I understand now. It was alittle confusing.

Just out of interest did you buy your car in Cyprus or did you ship it over from London ?

Where abouts in Cyprus to you live, Nitro?

My Z passed 3 months ago at Nelson no probs.

I think it is brighter that the stock plastic shit that is in there.IMHO makes the lights look more modern.

Even If I've got CY licence numbers I am still using the UK ones. Illegaly of course but who cares. :)

$1600 - OUCH!.

Have taken some footage of standard lights and have bacofoiled some spare lights. Should be doing the switch next weekend and will take some more footage, both with standard bulbs and with upgraded ones. Hopefully, this will quash the argument once and for all.

Those lights from the states are, if memory serves, the 1999 and onward HID lights from Japan..

i.e. completely different to our lights, and ought to be about a million times better.. Not sure what wiring mods you'd have to do though, and whether or not those have been modified to suit LHD aiming (given that they are being sold in the states).
