Hi all,

My hicas light keeps coming on after a few miles of motorway driving. It doesn't come on for country roads or round town.

Any ideas?

I've topped up my fluid so it's not that, also it feels fine and it's not twitching round corners etc. Could it something like the Hicas ECU?

Cheers

After a while, maybe 5-10miles. Once I stop and switch it back on, the light goes out until my next motorway journey

Hmm, not tried that. Remind me again how to do that, not done it for a while. Am I right in saying you count the flashes on the ECU?

Yes indeed.....check the FSM for the procedure......to long to describe  Do you have the impression that it takes longer to go into alarm when it's colder outside?

  • Author

Possibly, it's only really just started to come on since the warmer weather

I'll do the diagnostic check one night this week and post back up with my findings, thanks for your help :)

I had the same problem, searching for months and ended up concluding that it went into alarm once the ecu warmed up and taking a longer time when cold outside. I now changed the Hicas ECU and no problem anymore.......

except I feel the Hicas working now and not sure how it is supposed to feel. It's very strange, when turning the steering wheel from L to R on the highway I feel the back of the car moving. Or it is normal or the feeling is amplified by the worn subframe-bushes.

Did yours come up with any error codes?

Nope, no error codes. Only went into alarm when warmed up going into fail-safe mode and putting the powersteering in hardest mode.
