Manual TT or n/inlet cams

I'm going to be getting the car mapped soon, before I do I though it would be worthwhile fitting some manual inlet cams.

These are the same for the n/a also, anyone got some?

NA and TT manual cams are the same, only TT auto ones are different/milder. Be careful though about early and late as the cam gears change.

Save yourself the trouble, really is not worth the effort.

8 degrees of duration. I think most get confused because of the 20hp claim between auto and manual, forgetting the slightly larger turbos to. If you had a pile of parts and then sat there it's not going to hurt but if your planning on pulling the plenum and belt etc on a running lump as Jeff says not really worth it. Just throw more boost at her and enjoy the earlier boost.

Well the engine is coming out to fit some new turbos (gt28r) and manifolds, so the plenum will be off already, but I know all my internals are spot on so might be tempting fate to fiddle.

I'm not bothered about the extra power, I'm sure there will be more than enough with the new setup.

I've read contradictory things in terms of cams and turbo spool. Logically to me, a less aggressive cam would shift the power band down lower allowing earlier spool. A lot information (mainly from the us) suggests that a more aggressive cam ( more duration) will actually get the engine breathing earlier and hence better spool. I'm not that bothered to the point I would put in aftermarket cams, my thinking was to just follow Nissan, hence the manual cams.

They do call Cams a black art, generally your right a more aggressive profile changes the power hand to a higher peak and less low end. I doubt you'll notice much difference either way.

Changing them isn't actually that bad, no need to remove the head etc, but will require Cam belt distribution, however I'd hope after all you've done to the shell the engine is going to get a 60k belt job at least?
