Very sad news, a true racing legend, denied an knighthood that he so deserved for his services to Motorsport and charity!

Had the pleasure of meeting him at Goodwood several years back when he launched the Henry Surtees trust (His Son Henry was sadly killed in a Formula Two race at brands when a loose wheel struck him).

John was magnificent telling great stories of his CanAm days (which my son Paul questioned him on), even then at 80 this man was full of energy and had that great glint in his eye when he recalled his racing days.

A genuine true Legend and a friend of the common man! RIP John Surtees.

A nice post Steve and never knew about his son being killed on the track.
