Hi There,

Well the time has come, bit sooner than I expected but hey, there you go. I am staying in the club and I am gonna get my new project finished, but in the meantime.....

Nissan V6 300ZX Twin Turbo 1998 Fairlady Auto Targa Top LWB 2+2

Rare Midnight Purple

86K Miles

MOT till October 2017

History - Purple Haze

JDM Import by Garry Warren (GazWoz) of the UK 300zx.co.uk Forum. First registered on a “S” Plate in October 2015. I am the first UK owner. The car was imported from warmer climes in southern Japan and has absolutely no rust, it’s in great condition, being the late 98 model, it is incredibly reliable.

I have used her on the odd sunny weekends and attending 300ZX club car meetings. Most of the 300ZX club will know her as Purple Haze.

Agreed Valuation Certificate (Lancaster Insurance) @ £8000 30/10/2016

Completely unmolested original twin turbo original 1998 model with subtle cosmetic OEM upgrades.

Maintenance. No expense spared.

October 2015

On arrival, she was taken straight to LA Autos in Shrewsbury and Lee Dent carried out fitting a new cambelt kit along with a full major service to both Engine and Gearbox.

January 2016

I had the 99 spec rear lights made by Andy ( Phutumsh) of the 300ZX forum fitted along with a set of Mongoose catback stainless steel pipes, retaining the same design with twin chrome pipes each side as per original back boxes. Nice clean lines/look at the back now which suits the LP2 original colour. Not too loud, more of an enhanced growl on pick up than from the original back boxes (which I still have and will supply), making her look and sound just right. This car does not have an annoying loud drone on a run, she purrs along nicely and you can hear and talk quite easily.

March 2016

Back to LA Autos for Lee Dent to carryout professional rustproofing/cavity wax (Dinitrol) of underside, chassis, doors & wings.

May 2016

I managed to source and have rebuilt back to OEM spec by Andy (Phutumsh), a set of original **Altia illuminated rear quarter panel window shades, which are rare. Very rare. Andy also brought the original Altia illuminated rear centre logo panel back to life along with the original Altia sills which came with the car. See attached link…

I also replaced 4 nearly new tyres all round as the camber was way out and had the first 4 wheel alignment camber adjustment carried out at a specialist centre (STS).

August 2016

Fitted brand new HID 5000W headlamp kits.

October 2016

I had to fit a set of new poly steering rack bushes and a new MOT was issued with zero advisories.

November 2016

Annual Full service carried out again by Lee Dent at LA Autos, all lubes, filters, gearbox oil replaced and serviced, annual conzult check was also carried out. Lee fitted an Apexi power intake kit I purchased from ConceptZ Performance in the states https://conceptzperformance.com/apexi-507-n009-power-intake-kit-nissan-300zx-90-96-z32_p_513.php , (I will supply the original air filter box)too breathe a little easier. I also had the rear camber arms replaced with brand new adjustable ones from Outlaw products http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200SX-180SX-S13-Skyline-R32-300ZX-Z32-Rear-Camber-Arms-Outlaw-Products-/222280263365?hash=item33c0efa6c5:g:IuYAAOSwPCVX~1Uq

and a second wheel alignment/camber check carried out at STS on a Hunter Hawkeye set up.

The car is now running perfect.

**Altia were OEM aftermarket options available from factory and this car has the distinction of being the only (known) 300ZX in the UK with all 3 original Altia OEM aftermarket parts fitted and working.

Interior

Full leather electric seats (driver and passenger) all round with only marginal wear on the driver’s side bolster. Suede effect door panels and glove box. Original blue tinted glass all round. Original matching Fairlady shag pile car mats all round. All electrics (including clock) are working with the dashboard LED bulbs having been upgraded by Andy (phutumsh) in a cool red glow. The car came from Japan with an expensive sound system/ICE that has a colour reversing camera fitted to an amazing Pioneer Carrozzeria set up with 7” popup/flip screen and Bluetooth. The DVD plays UK films and CD player has an external hard drive that copies each CD as you load it and replays it back. The speakers are upgraded with powerful but discreet tweeters in the tops of the doors and separate amps for the rear & door speakers. The sound system is excellent with a discreet sub-woofer in the boot. The only thing I cannot get to work in the UK is the built in Sat-Nav. Apparently it needs a revised OS upgrade. There is also a forward facing camera built in.

Bodywork

The Midnight Purple LP2 paintwork is a rare colour for the 300zx. There are one or two areas where a recent small and repairable scratch (thanks Storm Doris…NOT) on the top of the drivers wheel arch and a slight lacquer imperfection on the rear quarter panel with a couple of flecks on the front bumper are the only, minor, issues. All the rubbers and seals are in good condition and the targas don’t leak. She looks great and even better in the sunlight, the metallic paint flips from a metallic deep purple to black and gets a mention every time…

Wheels

These are 18” aftermarket alloys that came on the car, in great condition. 5Zigen Pro Racer GN+ Wheels and centre caps.

Overall, Purple Haze is a superb and UK ready example of a reliable and appreciating classic 300ZX Z32 TT marque, the auto box is perfect, the turbos doing what they do best, the engine is faultless, car handling as it should and looking pretty much how it came from the factory. It’s a reliable and great looking car.

The only reason I am selling her is I had picked up a ZX project recently and I am too far in to that project to pull out now, that and I just got made redundant. So the only reason I am selling her is simple, I need the cash.

I will put up some recent photos but most of you know her anyway…. more details and photos etc. available, PM me.

Cheers,

Chris

I know mate, I am sick about it, as you know this car helped me get over my cancer scare back in 2015, she is more than just a car to me. Truth is, I had just got the project car arranged and the job folded unexpectedly, I have to be realistic and with a family to support, I have no option mate. If I can sell her, at least I can finish the project car and be back in the club again.

Ah man, sorry to see this, lovely car, hope things pick up for you and you can avoid letting her go.

I just pressed the WTF button

Same here, shocked me but I get why. Good luck Chris

Really sorry to hear this Chris, its an amazing car and would recommend to anyone, hope to see you with the new project

Darren

Best of luck, Chris. What's the new project?

No idea mate, I honestly think the price is bang on compared to what else is available in this condition, age & model currently.

Indeed it is. Personally I think there is a small demand for this car is top spec/condition. Just a waiting game. Too many people want a cheap car to mess around with nowadays.

car prices are a funny thing the r5 i just got cost near on 2k more than what you are asking for this and thats for a 80s tin can, it all down to demand the 300zx dont seen to fetch that much the 300zx here is worth 10k easy pound for pound but the following it not that big when people hanker after a car from past and has a massive following the sky is the limit i know of a mk2 escort rs turbo thats sold for 25k few weeks ago now the 300zx is the better car but the ford and the 5 are more sort after its funny world. there is mk1 golf up for 10k i really want but again the 300 you have is the better car but it does not have the nostalgia and i think that holds the price back
