Aston Martin plans to create a limited run of DB4 GT lightweight models with VIN numbers following on from the 75 1960s originals

Aston Martin is to bring its iconic DB4 GT back to life, revealing plans for a run of continuation models to be built to lightweight specification at Newport Pagnell – the first cars to roll off the production line at the Buckinghamshire base in ten years.

Between 1959 and 1963 a total of 75 DB4 GTs were built there, though only eight of those were lightweight models. Today these cars are valued at over £3m.

The new batch will consist of 25 examples using continuation VIN numbers, and while they’ll be crafted faithful to the design of the original eight lightweights, they’ll benefit from more powerful engines, better brakes, plus improved safety features. Aston promises that the mix of traditional craftsmanship and modern techniques will build on the original character of the lightweights rather than replace it though.

Nice.....

.......but £1.5m a pop.......!!!!

I'm also pleased about Jaguar re-issuing the last few models of the classic D-type. Not that I'd ever get to own one though, but great that two iconic motoring brands can still invest their funds in such a frivolous hark back to their former glory days....

Apparently the Jaguars are "replacements" for the original final batch of cars that were destroyed by a fire in the factory back in the day......!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
