what should be the ball park cost of a rebuild?

looks like i'm going for a complete rebuild. means the motor will be sorted then. also getting a total respray, and wheels recoated as well, amongst a few other bits and pieces. car should be sorted then.

question is, i am yet to get the estimate for a rebuild. so you guys who have done this before, how much did oyu get done and how much did it cost you? i just want to make sure my guy is competitive.

cheers and merry xmas.

Total rebuild? be more specific, but bear in mind brand new engine can be had for around £5k.

My rebuild which included, New pistons, rebore, redone crank, heads, valves, all the brearings, inlcuding engine out and (lots of other bits i care not to mention :D) cost me £3850 plus turbos , plus fitting ect ect.

warren,

not entirely sure yet. still waiting for the full report. but i would like to know what people reccomend you should get done if you are having the engine completly taken apart. then engine is out and they have taken the top end apart and were dismantling the bottm end yesterday. see i dont know much about engine internals and want to make sure i get it right this time.

i guess new rings and stengthened shells on the bottom end.

cheers

steve

That sounds awesome? What is the breakdown on the parts?

Seems way way over the top for 600WHP.

And Tomei pistons with custom Compression ratio can be had for around £650-700. (Thats around the same of all the aftermarket units)

Instead of second hand hearsay, phone Latz and ask what he does,am sure if you are interested he will do a break down for you.

£650-£700 + tax and shipping and we all know what a ripp off that is:D ask Jayspc on the tax on his nismo and blitz goodies. He told me he got hammered for it:(

Iain,

can you send me contact details fro latz and i will contact him.

i have about 3k to spend on the engine rebuild basically and another 1-2k for respray and other bits and bobs, so i would like ot keep the rebuild within this price range, but can spend more it pushed.

cheers
