ok car been running nice so turned the boost up to 10psi was fueling fine afr was good. after a little run pulled over and the car started hunting pretty bad reving up and down near to a stall. go home done a few boost leak tests all good unplugged the maff still the same unplugged idle valve did the same and stalled. ran consult no codes its not missing just hunting but pretty bad. i know this is air leaks that cause this but cant find any this only happed like i said after turning the boost up any ideas were to go from here

its near stalling then going back up if you turn on the car fans then its idles is ok this must open the next valve and let more air in

check every boost coupling very carefully Dan...how are you doing the boost leak check?

bri i think its the idle valve when you turn the car fan on its idles ok you turn it off it near stalls

if you watch the iacc on the consult you can see if flying up and down

pulled over and the car started hunting pretty bad reving up and down near to a stall.

This now mate sounds like a boost leak...you had a fast, ish idle but it was regular before you raised the boost

i did a few leak test this was a little leak but nothing really fixed that made no odds. i think its not getting air if you unplug the idle valve its stalls, but if you turn the fans on the idle rasies and the idle is steady i think there is problem with the idle valve but the fast idle is ok and thats kicking in when the fan is on and the cars ok then

Maybe worth opening the base idle screw a little, bit by bit.

As you say, may be playing up.

i was just reading that am not sure why is done this am going to open it up a little with the idle unplugged it must be shut as when you fans on the fast idle opens and the cars ok as the airs getting in then soon as you turn the fan off the fast idle turns of and the near stalls looks like hunting but the lack of air from the valve the revs dies right down then go up a little must be getting just a bit of air past the butter fly to just keep it going

I had something similar, turned out that I had a leak in my brake booster diaphragm, that explained the soggy brakes too

but once repaired the idling was fine
