Hi all,

I'm looking for a LWB or SWB Twin Turbo in superb condition. Preferable with the following mods...wheels, exhaust, basic upgrades but would consider anything. Lower millage and full service history preferable.

Thank you,

Steve

Hi Alec, I looked at this but the only omission I have is with black cars. My partner just got rid of one because it shows every mark and its never clean, even after washing. Those decals need burning though and thank you for looking for me.

Hi Mate, I have up to 10K but that doesn't mean I want to spend that unless its the right one. Moneys is waiting to be used. There is a low millage one on ebay (white) for 8K and I have emailed the dealer but would prefer a club owned car because sometimes you get a better car with a bit of history you can call upon if needed. There is an SWB one just below this thread I like a lot...does anyone know if its still available?

There are a couple on eBay that look great although they are automatic. For your budget I'd definitely go for a personal import.

Thank you, yeah a manual would be preferred. What is a personal import?

An import from Japan, using an agent like our very own gazwoz, you tell him your budget and specific preferences in cars and he will scour Japanese auctions, offer you the best ones. He bids and organises shipping, and all you have to do is pick it up.

Japan had much nicer cards than over here but they come at a price.

That sounds like a plan. Is Gazwoz around here a lot or would it be best to contact him via a message. Cheers for the info.

With the budget, you should be able to get exactly what you want - the cream of the crop is in Japan unless you can find a pristine one here which is not that easy. There are still a lot of rotten ones about, questionable bodykits/awful styling. The good ones, the owners generally hang on to.

There are a lot of nicer ones appearing now, but many are being restored and retained by owners.

You should be able to get a super clean late-model car within your budget - but don't let the age deter you, find the best that you can. There are plenty of early models too which are often better equipped.

It's a very nice one, it's been up for sale for a few months now - do you want an auto? Some owners love their autos - I've driven both extensively and the manual is by far and away my preferred choice.

When I bought mine, TT manual or nothing for me. Mine was a fresh import when I bought it back in 2005.

Firstly no offense but it's got the worst interior (tweed), and one of the seat hinge trims is hanging off, driver seat is damaged. Not sure what's going on with the red bleached rear lights. Other than that, the steering wheel doesnt really suit the style and not sure about the subs, but if you like it it looks like a clean example.

IMHO its not worth the price, but if it ticks all your boxes, then you can fix a few things and it would be nice.

totally agree on all you have said, I would swap out the interior, change the wheel and the chavvy sub kit would be out....

It's fairly local to me, that one. Think it's been for sale for quite a while now.

One of the key questions is: would you ideally prefer a 2 seater or a 4 seater?

I always wanted the SWB but couldn't afford one when I originally went Zed-shopping, so I ended up with a LWB. Whilst I really liked that car, I never fell in love with it because, ultimately, it wasn't what I'd set my heart on.

Best to get the one you really want, rather than "making do" just for the sake of getting a Zed (in my opinion). :thumbup1:

I would prefer a manual but reckon an auto would do me fine as I'm looking for a loud and proud cruiser as apposed to a traffic light stormer.

Good plans! Series 2 interiors onwards are a world away from the tweed in the early cars. I went for custom leather in mine and then took that out and fitted the series 2 velour interior. So comfortable and much quieter than leather however Mondo does very nice retrims in whatever you want. Haggis if you asked him!

tbh I love em both. 4 seater because of the kids but 2 seater for a cruise with the missus.....

If I was personally gonna drop £8k on a car, I wouldn't be doing it on one I was gonna pull the seats out of straight away.....

When I looked - I had the budget for whatever I wanted and I like both SWB and LWB in equal measure. Considering buying a 2 seater to keep in the US though.....I'll have the best of both worlds then. :)

We can't all be as fortunate as you.... ;)

I'd recommend registering on JDMAuctionWatch.com and have a look under the "ONEPRICE" (dealer) section for Nissan Fairlady Z. Auctions are better to buy from, but you'll get a better idea of what's available from the dealer inventory.

Sorry, that wasn't meant to sound condescending - merely pointing out that I had the choice of what I wanted and that I like them both in equal measure. :)

Very true but as you have said, its been on for a while and I am sure he would take a better offer to get rid. Other than the interior it looks very solid. I have been registered here for a few years and looking for longer and have enough experience in knowing that the only limits I have are that I don't want black, NA and no super dodgy body kits. the rest can be sorted as long as its a well looked after car. Ill do some more digging, keep chatting to you knowledgeable lot and speak with your guy about a personal import. I'm not rushing, just don't want to pass up a good opportunity like I have in the past.
