As the title suggests, I'm about to have to shell out a substantial amount of money.

Why?

Because my sewing machine has finally died a death!! :( Very close to the end of a job as well, which means I can't finish at the moment... talk about lousy timing... :(

Four figure expenditure looms large at Castle Mondo!! :(

Very sad Mondo

Surely its worth a repair at the price tag, but then i know nothing about sewing machines or what the problem is. To me a new motor and quick service seems the way I would go.

Oh crap thats not good news. What machine do you use? If you were closer I would lend you my Singer 211. Can it not be repaired? I had to have some maintenance done on my a while ago but the cost was pretty cheap.. then again the old singers are all mechanical apart from a new servo motor, I imagine the newer machines might have more technology in them making for a more expensive repair?

I've got a few new parts coming as it started playing up a few days ago, but still worked and did it's job for the most part.

Yesterday morning, however, it decided that the only functions it was prepared to perform were snapping the top thread and breaking every single needle that was fitted! Of course, it decided to do this as I was almost at the end of a big job... if the new parts don't fix it (even temporarily) then I'm in a proper situation...

For the cost of servicing and repairs, I'd probably be better just replacing it outright. Especially seeing as I can't afford to be without a working machine for more than a day or two at absolute most!

I love it when a plan comes together:thumbup:, Congrats on getting up and running again:thumbup1:

I was digging deep and still coming up well short of what I'd need to replace it...!

Hopefully it's back up and running for the long term...

We could have had a whip round

I was thinking the same, it would be for the benefit of the Club:thumbup1:
