Farewell!

After a few months of waiting (and hoping) the Zed has finally sold! So with that the time has come to bid my farewell to the club and scene after almost 10yrs. I'd like to say an absolutely massive thanks to everyone on here who has, over the years, offered up help and advice with all the issues that come with the territory of owning one of these fantastic cars. Without you I would have thrown in the towel much sooner and without ever having had the chance to experience the joys of owning and driving the 300zx. This car has taught me so much and has given me some exceptional experiences and some exceptional friends. I wish you all the best and the club a successful future!

A note on the value of these cars - mine sold for not far off asking price. Whether this means the value of these cars is increasing or not, I couldn't say but what I have noticed through my own experience of selling it is that despite the very frequent discussion on here of "why aren't our cars considered more valuable?" there are many in the club (often those who shout loudest on the aforementioned discussions) who are quick to rubbish or find fault with ads which dare ask for price that is more reasonable! My personal opinion is that unless you are actively in the market of trading these cars (and so have current specialist knowledge on their market value) or are being constructive in your comments, keep them to yourself. You are doing neither the seller nor the club/scene any service.

And on that merry note (and with a few pics for attention the new ride), I bid you all farewell!!

Thanks for the kind posts all. Though Zedless I may drop in from time to time to see what's what. The Jag has been fantastic so far and I'm really enjoying driving it!

As for the thread, happy to leave it as is and not censoring it. I won't comment on specifics but my own view has always been that though this is a forum platform, its primary purpose is to support and sustain a community of enthusiasts which doesn't always align with people firing off comments as they think of them.

All the best to the club though!

He's got a point though lads. When a strongly-priced car comes up for sale, you can count on it being torn to shreds here.

Why is it like this?! On mostly every Z32 forum we BASH overall the sellers asking price! We should support the sell of a members car UNLESS we personally know one is lying about the condition or mods/features of a car. If he wins we win if the values stay strong. Other than that read the post and say good luck or offer true helpful/constructive criticism (which in most cases thru the PM).

I've said my bit about this particular car, so I won't say anything further on that matter.

There's a Zed on eBay (or Gumtree - can't remember which) that's up for a few grand. It's a pearl white NA. The seller describes the bodywork as being superb, yet there are two huge patches of rust on the tailgate! Granted, the rest of the body looks in good nick, but he doesn't even mention the rusty boot at all!

We're not yet at the stage where these cars are making really good money even if they're a bit ropey, but people are seeing the prices slowly climb and are (understandably) upping the prices of their own Zeds. I've a suspicion that we'll encounter a period where tat gets dressed up like diamonds and sold for an appropriate price, but hopefully that period will be short-lived.

My own viewpoint is that we, as owners, want our cars to be worth money. Like anything though, they have to either be in superb condition or ridiculously rare to be worth big bucks. It's when people start selling arguably average cars for strong money that the questions and the "bashing" start. We've seen it many times on here over the years and we'll no doubt see it again before this year is out.

I don't think it's a case of certain portions of the membership just wanting to jump on anyone who feels their Zed is worth more than two apples and a big bag of conkers; it's simply that we want realism within our marketplace as the values start to increase.

Those are my thoughts anyway.

I agree if s guy is straight up lying and trying to on load a piece of crap on someone then yes.... It's not right to an honest buyer to get rodded and lose hard earned $ over a lie. But everything else is a private matter.

Hey I just left your site and you do nice work

Well, thank you. :)

One thing that I think a lot of people either didn't realise or have simply overlooked is the fact that, at no point, did I explicitly say or suggest to Shifty that his car wasn't worth what he was asking for it. I don't know enough about the car in question to comment. I simply offered a suggestion, after he'd lowered his asking price twice, as to how he could potentially improve the appearance and thus get the price he wanted.

That's all.

Someone like the seller I mentioned with the pearl white NA is a different story entirely. People like that come in for a "bashing" more often than not but, as far as I'm aware, not one person bashed Shifty's car on here. The absolute worst thing that was said was by myself, and that was when I said about changing the driver's seat to lift the appearance of the cabin overall.

But anyhoo, the car's sold and that's that. He got a good price, which should make him and the rest of us happy :thumbup1:
