Hi all.

I have recently purchased a new aluminium radiator and fitted it. However it seams to hold a pressure when cold.

I have taken off the overflow pipe to the expansion tank and blown down it but can not get any air to flow down it.

My question is that is this pipe blocked thus not allowing pressure out? (or does it have a valve?)

Should it be free flowing?

Thanks

Mike

Yes mate, but is the pipe to the expansion tank ment to be free flowing. I took it off at the radiator and blew down it and I can't get air to flow down it. Cheers

no mate the pipe should feel blocked and you should not be able to blow down it. when the rad is hot it forces the valve in up to let the hot water in to the bottle and when cooled down the vacuum will draw the water back from the bottle to the rad , the rad car is a 2 way valve, it pushes and pull. under no vac or pressure the valve will be closed thats why you cant blow down it

I know the cap is a 2 way valve. I have taken the pipe of the radiator and blowing towards the expansion tank. I didnt this there was any valves in that direction.?

so this could explain why my last radiator ballooned and split... Because the pressure could not be vented
