NEWS ABOUT SE

In response to some highly inaccurate information posted on the forum, I will try to illuminate the situation regarding the name change of Silvia Engineering to SE-Nissan.

Firstly and most importantly – SE are not “in trouble” our current sales, bookings, productivity and profitability are better than ever. In fact the only real problem we have at the moment is simply keeping up with the demand for our products and services, which anyone booking work in will testify to.

Secondly - we are not looking for buyers! No aspect of our existing operation will change as the result of this change in legal entity. As for the name change – well it is slightly more than that, as I will explain below, but Silvia Engineering had not made any change to its trading title in the 7 years that I grew it from a “one-man-band”. The change to “SE” has been a long planned exercise, because the vast majority cannot recognise the link between the word “Silvia” and the work we do. Anyone who has had one of our free catalogues in the last three years can confirm the SE branding that we have tried to achieve. Even the web site address (www.se-nissan.com) has used this branding since its launch.

So why have we changed companies to change a name?

Basically because as long as the company name remained “Silvia Engineering” we would never shake off a tag that our customers did not understand. Not just you guys here in the UK but for our international customers also.

Why change it now?

We chose the most convenient time (end of tax year) for internal reasons. A major upheaval in the business is never going to be convenient but this was judged to be the most appropriate moment, along with our other plans.

Does the new company plan to do everything the same?

No. To be honest we had hoped that we could announce our re-launch plans in a couple of week’s time but now is as good a time as any, so here it is.

SE – NISSAN. Our plans for the future

In response to recent feedback (how can SE improve? On 300 forum) we have listened to criticism and praise of our operation and made the following changes.

1) New front man. Forum members were highly critical of Darren (our last retail manager) and I have listened and learned from everybody’s views. As a result Darren has left the business and his replacement (Paul) is much friendlier and customer oriented. When he comes fully “up-to-speed” he will provide a much better service than we have ever done in the past.

2) New operational systems. Mostly an internal thing, but again we can see ways that our service can improve through systems that we operate (i.e.: parts orders etc).

Other changes will be announced at the time of an open day, which we have scheduled for the Spring Bank Holiday Monday (28th May).

SE – NISSAN OPEN DAY

On the above day we will open our doors to any forum members who wish to come and see for themselves exactly what we do. We will organise some technology demonstrations and question and answer sessions but maintain an informal atmosphere. We will provide tea/coffee and biscuits during the day, which we hope you will take the opportunity to use for your own purposes as a meeting of members. The day will not be about SE selling its products, but a chance to look at all aspects of Z ownership.

If there are questions that I have not answered, post

I hope this clears up a smear! For our fans – watch this space as we gear up to offer you an even better service. For our critics – we have just brushed away your reservations, someday soon you will just have to come round and look for yourself.

Listen, Paul, just in Pete's defence here, this guy is a hard working guy. He has to try and satisfy an unbelievable amount of people. If you had been at the recent open day you would have seen evidence of this.

I know what your saying, I and others have had this problem aswell. Pete is just mobbed with work at the moment, if you are patient he will get back to you. But, if you are in a hurry then you'll have to accept the fact that Pete may not be able to sort you out straight away. It's a shame, but this guy takes his work very seriously and tries no end to keep everybody happy! He told me that he could literally spend all day just speaking to people on the phone, I can believe this as many times I have phones SE and the line has just been constantly engaged. When you do finally get hold of Pete he will spend time to talk to you.

If they could clone Pete we would all be more happy, but remember, it's not just 300 peeps that he deals with...you've got the 200SX guys, the Skyline chaps and the Pulsar guyZ aswell.

Put it this way, if the Nissan main dealers weren't so arse at looking after our carZ then maybe Pete wouldn't be so snowed under!!!

Know excactly how you feel fella, for 3 weeks i have been trying to get hold of Pete, first there was 3 phone calls, then a letter, then an e-mail, then another phone call, still no responce, daft thing is, it was Pete who told me ring on a pacific day to speke with him on a subject that only he knows the full ins and out off and i'm still trying, even sadder is i only want to spend some money down there, guess if it was a chick we were dealing with, like most she would have yer cash before you can get yer hand in the pocket. Smithy, I.O.M

I just think that the man on the end of the phone should know the relevent information about their products and not have to 'go and ask Pete'. A friend of of mine (Nathan200sx) phoned up SE and asked about thier stage 2 chip, he was told the usual 'someone will call back in 15 minutes' then Nathan asked 'well don't you want my phone number before you hang up!!!!!!'

hmmmmm i have been trying to get hold of some info from se for the last two weeks, i ohone everyday , and get the usual, phone back in 15 minutes blah blah blah,

now in defence of the customer, that is not what you want to hear,

i tried to give them a second chance, but to be honest, ill never bother with them again.

i now hav a 60 squid phone bill and all for "he wil get back to you in 15 minutes" lol

Don't bother going there mate, I when today and was not impressed, they installed a chip in mine and a friends 200sx, apparently they test drove them and they said they were fine, but when we went to Power Engineering they said the car was "pinking its nuts off!" if SE are so good they how can things like this happen, then they needed to be asked to give back the old chips. It wasn't worth the 90-ish mile drive there. Norris Designs are starting to support the 300zx now and there customer service is fantastic, I had an invoice problem, so I emailed them on a saturday night, at about 10am sunday morning they MD of the company phoned me up because he popped into the office and read his emails, and I wasn't expecting a call until tuesday! (it was easter weekend) now thats customer service.

Just a thought - if the car was running Ok generally, what evidence did PE give you that it was pinking?

Paul,

Are we talking about a 300 here, not a 200? If 300, did anybody run an ECU diag. and did the car lull back into safety boost or anything similar?

I'm with Coogs, just wondering how they new it was pinking?

Have you sorted it out with SE now?

;-?

It was a 200sx and you could hear the difference after Power Engineering retarded the ignition, the engine had a less mettalic noise, we didn't hear it because we went striaght back to P.E. on the M25 slowly because we weren't sure about fueling and such, and you wouldn't hear pinking on light throttle at cruising speeds (70mph).

Now my car hesitates and there is increased turbo lag, full boost is now reached about 800rpm later! ive only got a T25 hybrid not a T3 it used to fully spin up at 3200rpm.

Mine needs tuning somthing is not right, I didn't get to do a power run on my car due to the fact that some scumbag tried to nick my alloys and broke a wheel stud. frown.gif
