NEWS ABOUT SE

In response to some highly inaccurate information posted on the forum, I will try to illuminate the situation regarding the name change of Silvia Engineering to SE-Nissan.

Firstly and most importantly – SE are not “in trouble” our current sales, bookings, productivity and profitability are better than ever. In fact the only real problem we have at the moment is simply keeping up with the demand for our products and services, which anyone booking work in will testify to.

Secondly - we are not looking for buyers! No aspect of our existing operation will change as the result of this change in legal entity. As for the name change – well it is slightly more than that, as I will explain below, but Silvia Engineering had not made any change to its trading title in the 7 years that I grew it from a “one-man-band”. The change to “SE” has been a long planned exercise, because the vast majority cannot recognise the link between the word “Silvia” and the work we do. Anyone who has had one of our free catalogues in the last three years can confirm the SE branding that we have tried to achieve. Even the web site address (www.se-nissan.com) has used this branding since its launch.

So why have we changed companies to change a name?

Basically because as long as the company name remained “Silvia Engineering” we would never shake off a tag that our customers did not understand. Not just you guys here in the UK but for our international customers also.

Why change it now?

We chose the most convenient time (end of tax year) for internal reasons. A major upheaval in the business is never going to be convenient but this was judged to be the most appropriate moment, along with our other plans.

Does the new company plan to do everything the same?

No. To be honest we had hoped that we could announce our re-launch plans in a couple of week’s time but now is as good a time as any, so here it is.

SE – NISSAN. Our plans for the future

In response to recent feedback (how can SE improve? On 300 forum) we have listened to criticism and praise of our operation and made the following changes.

1) New front man. Forum members were highly critical of Darren (our last retail manager) and I have listened and learned from everybody’s views. As a result Darren has left the business and his replacement (Paul) is much friendlier and customer oriented. When he comes fully “up-to-speed” he will provide a much better service than we have ever done in the past.

2) New operational systems. Mostly an internal thing, but again we can see ways that our service can improve through systems that we operate (i.e.: parts orders etc).

Other changes will be announced at the time of an open day, which we have scheduled for the Spring Bank Holiday Monday (28th May).

SE – NISSAN OPEN DAY

On the above day we will open our doors to any forum members who wish to come and see for themselves exactly what we do. We will organise some technology demonstrations and question and answer sessions but maintain an informal atmosphere. We will provide tea/coffee and biscuits during the day, which we hope you will take the opportunity to use for your own purposes as a meeting of members. The day will not be about SE selling its products, but a chance to look at all aspects of Z ownership.

If there are questions that I have not answered, post

I hope this clears up a smear! For our fans – watch this space as we gear up to offer you an even better service. For our critics – we have just brushed away your reservations, someday soon you will just have to come round and look for yourself.

Pete,

I'm very sorry for posting the original message about the "trouble" that SE were in. I am suprised that the source I got the information from could be quite so inaccurate considering that he has dealings with you extremely frequently.

Anyway, I apologise for any problems that my post may have caused you and I look forward to attending the open day.

To any listers who may have crapped their pants aftere my post: I'm VERY sorry for any soiled underwear ;-) Rest assured that I am gonna have a "lively" discussion with my source.

Cheers,

Andy

well that sounds liuke a good one, again you defy your critics, well done and good luck.

Pete, I'll visit but it'll have to be chocolate digestives

;-)

Steve

...further to what Pete has told us all, I spoke to Pete this afternoon. He is not a well chap at the moment, but assured me that plans to rebuild the engine for my car are on schedule. Pete was very helpful and I have full confidence in him.

I did find it hard to believe that a company that has been going for so long would be in any trouble that would send them under!

Cheers Pete, keep it real!

Thank God for that, Im here because of post on www.nissan200sx.co.uk whereby someone said that they had read here that SE were having problems, Im going to put the list straight now I've seen this. I pooped my pants because Im saving up for the legendary SEstage 2 Chip, SE are very popular amoungst the 200sx brigade aswell so there going to be a few sighs of releif.

Cheers

Nat

P.S any chance of some tea and biccies as well?

The 200sx boy's are glad to hear the truth

BTW Custard Creams are best. LOL

Good to hear you are still alive Pete.

At last Pete finally got round to having a meet at his place.

Better put an order of Chocolate Hob Nobs in for me Pete ;-)

Eddie ;-)

do you have a dyno there? maby a dyno day while we are all there?

I've phoned SE-Nissan 5 times over the last 2 weeks with 2 simple queries:

Can you change the timing belt on my NA Z?

Exactly how much will it cost me?

Everytime I'm told 'we'll give you a ring back'. Unfortunately they never do! If this is better customer service I dread to think what it was like.

I've decided to pay through the nose and take it to my local Nissan dealer now.

Cheers,

Andy

Andy,

You don't seem to be having muck luck with this cambelt change.

It isn't more than 3-4hr job so a main dealer cost will be around £275 - £350 including the belt.

If its time for a cambelt change, I would get it done asap as the damage caused by a broken belt would be £££.

I've never heard of one breaking though!!

Steve

barbel, also on the subject on phoning Silvia Engineering. I bought a pair of Dump Valves from them over a month ago now. Having taken 2 weeks for them to arrive, I had them fitted, but they didn't work well with the car. I was offered a full refund (£400). That was 3 1/2 weeks back now - and no money has gone into my account. I have phoned them every day since chasing them up, and they still havn't done it. Before this, I have never had a problem with them. I think the work they do there is top class, but when it comes to after sales service..... Anyone else had any problems with them?

Spoke to Pete over last weekend, he was not well with Flu or something. My car is waiting in line for an engine rebuild, Pete told me that he was sending me a spreadsheet with options outlined for me to take in and then get back to him...still waiting Pete!

Also, didn't hear anything from SE for a couple of weeks so phoned to get an update on my car and the guy I spoke to didn't know anything about my car. This is disturbing, I asked for an update and he couldn't tell me anything!

Nothing I can do as my car is in bits with it's guts hanging out and engine in the hands of SE.

I'm staying positive though, I just hope that the reason is coz SE are upto there necks in orders and not any other reason.

Hey Mr Smith dont wish to worry ya, but if i was in your shoes i would be banging on the door asking for me motor back (in one piece)

the ole saying there's no smoke without fire certainly applies.

Barbel+ Chris your problems are nothing new.

despite talking to Peter in person some 4 years ago about all the same problems as listed in the past few months, it's sad to see they still exist despite promise's to everyone.there are loads of people in the same boat as us all with different connections to the company, which might help explain the " no smoke without fire"

Shame cos i reckon he can be the best and most knoweledgeble ? tuner in the UK for Nissan's, Smithy i.o.m

oooohhhhhh this is not goos .. looks like its swinging the other way again more complaints than not lol.

hhhhmmmmmm, i tihk i should reserve judgment as anyone want to know again about the hassles i had lol lol

Hi All (Mr_Smith as well),

Wot car have you got?

I saw Pete for an hour last weekend and he was totally f***ed. He was so Ill I was surprised he was taking calls. (Coogs have you got your clutch vaccume tank?)

I see what you mean by SE not replying to calls as this happened to me in the week, which pissed me off.

I am very surprised at the issues being raised, although I have a UK spec car I did not have problems getting my cam belt replaced last month (£250) fixed price.

Pete has a new guy, who is polite on the phone but needs to learn to PHONE CUSTOMERS BACK if they expect to be phoned back.

It might be that SE need to hire more technical staff as the phone does not stop ringing. Not with pissed off customers but with people asking advice or product info.

If I have time Saturday I shall hassle Pete about sorting this out amongst other things.

SE is an excellant company but as with our cars needs a little fine tuning.

If Pete pulls his finger out and sorts out the OPEN DAY on May 28th, it would be a good opportunity for all of us to air our suggestions.

Pete is a car enthusiast but he does need a prod from time to time.

(Growing Weary Of SE Winging Posts)

...just want to say one thing here, 7 MONTHS, just think about how you would feel???

[-(

MR Smith,

Crumbs, is that how long you have been waiting for your Engine. I can understand your pain of not having the car for 7 months.

I managed to get 5 mins with Pete on Satarday and he is massivly busy. My Z has had to wait three weeks for a water pump change, Pete's just too popular.

I guess we can quiz him on the open day, get your questions ready.

Eddie ;-)

CheerZ Eddie,

I do feel a bit better now, thanks mate! Hopefully see you and Pete at the end of the month.

[-|

...sorry, better clear something up here, my car hasn't been with Pete for 7 months. He's not had it that long, but it's taken roughly 7 months for somebody to try and begin to work out what is wrong with it. Hence my frustration.

I am sure Z's were designed for programmers. There are so many interesting and impossible challenges that present themselves.

It took me a year to figure out my code 34 on ECU. This turned out to be the wrong connector on the det-sensor.

Just solved one weird crunchy sound which could be confused with a worn bush somewhere. This was a loose bolt that supports dash.

I wish you luck with your car Mr Smith, see ya at Pete's on the 28th.

Eddie.

I have...the chap who owned my Zed before me left it too long and it blew, taking the turbos with it. He (or his company) had to fork out a cool £11,000 some 3 years ago to repair the damage. Fortunately for me, that meant I had new turbos and a new engine to boot.

There's always the possibility of the bely breaking and there's no escaping a huge bill if it does!!

There's a guy in the U.S who had a bolt snap on his cambelt tensioner.......

Need I say more?

Steve

oopps! I meant belt.... not bely :-)

Just on the subject of SE's customer service, I made 2 phonecalls on separate days and also told 'someone will call you back in 15 minutes' did they ****, you can't have a company rely on one man so much, it seems when this Pete bloke isn't there the rest of the staff don't have a clue about what to do!
