As title how high is the front of the car got to be to put the engine and box in as one lump and wood the drivers turbo get in the way of the stering column

Is it not a lot easier to separate them? I believe you have to tilt them at a weird angle to get them out like that. It's not difficult to get the gearbox off

Hi bud its to go back in the car thought it be easyer to do as one unit

You can do it on axle stands and you will need to undo the steering shaft from the rack (1bolt) and lower the subframe (4 bolts) a couple of inches to allow for the angle of the dangle, i found it easier putting the engine and box in together rather than lying on my back wrestling with the gearbox :biggrin:

It would help you to have another pair of hands to guide the rear of the gearbox away from the firewall as you lower the engine hoist, do it gradually, the angle will not be as acute as / but it needs to be at an angle, but less acute than /

I would remove the rad and front bumper also or you will struggle to get the engine hoist in close enough and not damage the bumper

Cheers Graham sweet the bumpers off and rad so that's handy
