Some of you may have spotted my thread about the alloys I bought from EBay.

I was basically mugged off by a seller on EBay who sold me three UK spec wheels and one import original Nissan alloys. I bought these as I wasn’t flush at the time and the wheels on my car at the moment are in bad shape, one of them is slightly buckled. During the cold snap, the tyre on the worst one actually came off the rim, thankfully I was only travelling at about 20mph.

When the wheels arrived they obviously all looked the same but the tyres that came with them, which were listed as ‘road worthy’ were far from legal.

During dealing with the seller about the tyres, I went and source a set of TOYO and Marshall tyres for the wheels and subsequently had them fitted to the alloys.

When I went back to the workshop, they fitted them but informed me I have three different size wheels. Two rears and two different front wheels, one was slightly wider than the other. Also to add, the UK spec wheel are convex and the imports are concaved (I think it’s that way around either way, they are different).

I took the wheels home (I shouldn’t have) in the hope I would find a replacement for the front. The wheels aren’t great looking to be honest, and now that I’m working again, I’m looking at a new set of alloys.

The problem I have now is that the tyres I have are 16” but the wheels on my car currently are 17” and I like the way they look. I’ve listed my tyres on various sites but no one wants to buy a set of new tyres of this particular size from a private seller it seems. They are odd sizing as they were to fit the original Nissan alloys and several garages said they found it hard to match my request.

I considered getting my wheels restored now as they are replicas of the wheels found on the Ferrari F40. But if I have them restored, I need a new set of tyres as wheels, as the tyres I have are 16”. This has turned out to be a nightmare because if I now fit the new 16” alloys and tyres and don’t like the look, I don’t think I’d want to keep the car.

Rant over, I’m not sure which road to take, I don’t want the new look to be a disappointment.

I remember seeing some free alloys on here being passed around a while back. Maybe someone still has them

Why don't you list the tyres here? There are still some of us with the original wheels, and finding tyres can be tricky!

I did do some time ago, I really don't know how much they are worth now?

They've never been used, only fitted. A cost to me at £350

Ummm Mikey are you saying if "you" choose a crappy looking set of wheels and don't like the look.... That you'll consider selling your car?! WHAT?!!!!

It's not the car's fault! LOL :chris:

No not the cars fault but I had a plan and it failed miserably. I don’t have a lot to throw at the car, I spend what I can on the maintenance. This has just been a bit of bad luck really and could be easily solved if someone would snatch up these tyres for a reasonable price. As much as I’d love to buy a set of 17” tyres and new alloys, I can’t do it.
