it seems to me that people dont keep their zeds very long, perhaps not realising until its too late just how much these cars cost to run. so the question is how long have tou owned your zed?

cheers

4 weeks and its cost me more in that time than my 2001 Saab Turbo has cost me in a year and a half

Just over 4 years

About 2 and a half years, cost me over £2,500 in first 6 months........... another £1500 since easy. Think I've been unlucky though................ and now EVERYTHING is new and running sweet.

Wish there was more of a difference in price for dogs and Z's that have been sorted! Mine is an '89 and I know what I would want for it, IF I were to sell it, and you just know you would get people saying/thinking "I've seen a '91 for £4k, your's is a bit expensive".

The age is pretty insignificant compared to condition and work done to the car, I think.

James.

Just over a year (this one:D ) and just over 8 months (last one:( )

Loved every second of it, I still look out of the window at every opportunity to see it, and don't begrudge a single penny I've spent on it (not too much so far.....)

Coming up 4 Months. Haven't actually had much of an opportunity to spend wads of cash on it but i've got a grand's worth of bodywork getting done 13th January at PPS.

Can't wait cos the tatty rear spoiler winds me up when the rest of the car is so awesome!

Also going to get it serviced soon which may cost a bit. The funny thing is, I got a Zed as a cheap car to save money after spending a small fortune running (and losing money on) my old car!!!! (TVR Cerb)

Let's just hope things stay that way and the Zed doesn't take to my wallet like a bitch on heat a la TVR.

Two and a half years and its cost me a fortune - heater matrix, HICAS, 1st engine rebuild (bought from a dodgy garage), 2nd engine rebuild (snapped cam pulley after hitting a box full of bottles on an M6 slip road) , forged pistons , hybrid turbo's , apexi fuel and boost controllers , new seats, rear suspension, uprated clutch, etc, etc:(

still its only money:D

What pistons did you go for and what turbos? clutch? sounds cool.

I have had mine for almost 3 years now, and spent god knows how much on it. Wish i had just gone with a pug 106 lol, would have saved me a mint.

Just over 4 years, 35,000 miles and over £5,000 on fuel alone, not to mention the 'other' odds'n'ends which add up !

The turbo's amnd pistons are being fitted bat the moment, while its undergoing its 2nd (hopefully last ) engine rebuild.

the pistons are ross forged jobbies.

still some debate over which turbos either apair of T28's or T3's:D

Oh yeah I forgot the clutch is an AP Racing metal plate thing:D

I have had my Zed for 6 weeks, and so for it has not cost me a penny. The reason is it has not been out of the garage, well once or twice when the wife's at work. If she finds out what is in the garage she'll kill me. I just can't get up courage to face the agro!

She thinks I'm doing great d.i.y projects in the garage. Fortunatley She never goes in the garage because of the awefull mess, and her attitude to cars is that she just drives them and I'm responsable for everything else. I can see her point of view in a way for I already have a face lift 300zx and a later 200sx cluttering up the drive.

Well I'm happy anyway!

Stuart

mine blew up after two weeks after nissan made a pigs ear of a cam belt change (that was 6k), then i blew the bottom end a few months back and am now waiting for the damage report on that. bascially spent a mint, but i tihnk it should be sorted soon as i would have replaced just about everything under the bonnet!

also decided to have the zed as a second car, so it only goes out in the nice weather and use the old golf gti just to potter to work etc.

cheers

steve

4 months and no major probs so far (touch wood and all that).

Just service costs and some bits from Courtsey, thanks to James.

Cheers,

F.T.

its my one years anniversery in january ARHHHH BLESSSSS!!!:p :p

Marc

I've had my Zed for nearly three years. Had a full respray at £2.5k, great, well worth while.

Apart from tyres, the only thing I have had to replace was the driver's seat belt, about 15 months ago - and the catch on it has gone again!

Servicing costs not much different from my wife's BMW 323.

Had mine for 2 weeks and total spent to date is £350. I don't count the cost of fuel as I am too affraid to add it up:D

1990 ZXTT import

Since april. Spent about £3k since then but only because I want it in utterly pristine form. Only really neccesary spend was £800 for the 60K service and water pump change, oh, and another 200ish at Zedworld to sort a fuelling niggle.

I`m keeping the car until I can no longer buy petroleum. It is unbelievably good and I`m hanging on to it for ever.

Since October. Spent £2,820.46 so far. excluding tax, petrol, insurance. Strange thing is nothing has ever gone wrong with it.

I have a feeling that this car will be with me for a very long time. I also have a feeling that this car will see a great number of changes in 2003, my bank account will also be -£10k or so. I'm ready to MOD !!!!!! :D (just haven't got the £10k yet  )

Just over 2 years and £3600 later not including insurance, petrol and tax.

In the next couple of months its gonna be a hell of a lot more, oh well I can't wait :D

I've had mine for 2 years. Did a full service with cambelt change immediately. It's a 2nd car - so doesn't do much mileage and it's garaged. (my wife knows it's there and drives it!!!) I've recently spent money on it: new inter. from Z Cen. (which I did myself and willing to do for anyone interested) front '99 spec spoiler.
