Talk to me about turbos....

In the future (although I'm not sure when in the future), I'll be looking to upgrade my turbos. Primarily because I think the seals are on the way out on one of them, but also because a little extra grunt would be nice.

I don't want anything overly lairy and I'm not going chasing big power or anything like that. I also think I'd like to keep the 4-bolt pattern and I'm aware this somewhat limits my choice.

So what sort of recommendations have people got for something a little tastier than the stock snails, and what sort of price are we talking please?

Go! :)

Your very limited if you keep the four bolt exhaust. Basically you have stock, sport 500s and gt525 the latter two are basically one in the same. Essentially these are stock housing with larger wheels. A quick look at Z1 will show you the prices. Next up is gt535R which is gt2554r turbo modified and turned into a kit to fit the Z32, after that there's the Gt600R/sport 600 kits which are gt2560rs again modified a touch. There are larger more expensive options but that should give an outline of the most common swaps from a range of 450-600Hp.

It's really something you have to research and choose yourself. There's more options, there's also some outside the box options, but unless your happy to DIY you will be best off paying for a kit.

The question is what do you want to achieve. With the right mods, the right map you could make 450hp on stockers to be fair and have a very responsive power curve. Gt525s aren't a whole lot cheaper than gt600s once you factor in the core and the gt535 are more expensive. You can get hold of gt2560s new for about £500-600 each but your going to have to piss about a fair bit, less than with the gt2554s though.

I've chose to use either a pair of old school T28s or a pair of GT2560s, the T28 is a personal choice and not a route I'd suggest to others.

This is why the advice is required - my knowledge about turbos is incredibly limited!

Basically, I'd like something a little better than the standard snails. Even if that means having a pair of standards rebuilt and upgraded internally. I don't want huge power at my disposal and it's highly unlikely my Zed will ever see a track... just something that'll be a nice upgrade over stock.

i can supply you Refurbed tubs with 360* Bearings @ £600 Pair or my t25/t28 Hybrids inc 360* for £800

can all so offer fitting option if you req
