Hi all, I'm looking at buying a mines ecu and was wondering if anyone can give me some advice on it?

I'm running stock everything except exhaust which is a cat back system, engine appears to be in good health and getting no smoke from exhaust.

Just wondering on the set up and how it's going to affect my engine by fitting the uprated ecu?

I've no boost controller fitted to the car but i could fit one if needs be but is the boost changeable via the conzult program and would conzult work ok with the uprated ecu?

Any info on this mines ecu would be appreciated..

Many thanks in advance..

Minescan be 'coarse' in their application of power and can lead to various problems, one of which is 'detination', a problem which can destroy your engine. With a standard engine l would recommend a mild chip being inserted into your existing ecu so as not to over stress an aged motor. Caution is the word not Mines, unless of course your prepared for a possible rebuild.

Fitting the mines ecu will be compatible with ConZult no issue, boost level cannot be changed though via the diagnostic, for all of its technology the boost level is controlled by a basic boost solenoid and actuator. The only control the ecu has is to limit the amount of boost when the engine is cold, or reduce boost if detonation is detected, this same set up can cause the engine to run in safety boost if the det sensor circuit is faulty.

Fitting the ecu without raising the boost will not make a lot of difference, the major improvement is from running the extra boost and having the map to keep it safe whilst doing it, so the option is manual boost jets or an electronic boost controller.

Before raising the boost a system check is essential, boost leak, timing, general condition, timing belt service level etc, this is to not only to get the very best out of the upgrade but to keep it all safe.

Thanks guys, very helpful..

I don't want to put the engine under unnecessary strain so I think I'm going to push the boost up a little on the standard chip and see how we go. To be honest I find the standard car plenty powerful enough for daily driving but after seeing the ecu up for grabs, the grey cells started wondering what if? Lol..

My det sensor is already in resistor mod mode until next month and I'm hoping the wiring is OK when I get the new sensor. I'm planning to put the sensor on the plenum bolt near the bulkhead as I've seen this done and been told it's effective but not as sensitive as it's intended positioning.

I'll give the ecu a miss then, thanks for your advice guys..
