Bit of an odd one inside my Z.

When I turn ignition on, if I wait a second or two there's a buzzing noise from inside the cover plate of the map reader lights in the roof.

I removed the cover tonight and the noise comes from a foam covered 'whatsit'. Apologies I don't know what that is but it's connected up for some reason.

Anyone know what's going on here?

Hi mate,

Common problem there..... There is a little fan (that "foam covered thing" you refer to) inside that cover plate - it's part of the a/c system - and after time, the bearing fails. Hence that little electric fan, which would otherwise spin away in relative silence, starts to sound noisy!

You can try replacing it with another; or IIRC, there is a "fix" albeit I cannot remember how!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

And there it is! Haha I thought it sounded like a fan.

Any tips then would be great ;)
