I am running a 4.0mm armoured cable from my house to the workshop underground approx 15m and would like to wire from my cooker socket, i have a gas cooker and apart from the spark for the cooker there is nothing else connected or being drawn from the cooker circuit.

The cooker has its own RCD/MCB and i intend to use an RCD unit specifically for sheds/garages in the workshop, im also aware that i may need to place an earth spike in the ground next to workshop rather than relying on the house earth, which is probably too far away.

So to comply with part P and get it signed off i intened to do all the work and get a sparky to check it all, but wondered if we have anyone here who can give me the definitive answer.

Ive been searching for hours and see some conflicting answers to whether the route im taking is sufficient and legal.

The main house fuse board is at the front of the house and would then be over 50m distance and a real pain to route the cable, with concrete paths etc in the way.

Any help appreciated

Cheers

How will you be making off the armoured cable into the cooker isolator?

The spur behind the cooker, then behind 4ft of skirting and through the wall to the garden, the so the cooker switch will become the isolator fro the workshop

I can see it now, your good lady is trying to cook you a nice roast chicken but it keeps tripping out as you're tucked away and have had your tool in your hand for a good few hours........put it down man she yells !!!
