Forgive me Z forum for I have sinned, this is my first confession.

I was beaten by a Daewoo in my 91 TT.

Yes, going to Salford on a rather wet day, along the East Lancs, where, for people who dont know the Mancherster/Liverpool area, there are several traffic lights along a national speed limit dual carrage way.

Pulling up to traffic lights where a Daewoo confronted me by pulling up in the lane next to me.

Revving his engine, I was not strong enough to resist this temptation. The light changed from the firy hell red to green. And I was off.

After 30 seconds of wheel spin I began to move just in time before the lights turned to red wink.gif

I was slowly edging up on the Daewoo until I had to change gear, and lo-and-behold, I wheel span again.

I tried my best to catch the Daewoo before the next set of lights but the lord (and traction) was not on my side. I hung my head in shame and pulled up behind it so I didn't have to look at the driver face to face.

I am sorry, fellow Z'ers.

Punish me as you will, for I have sinned.

P.S.

I do not condone racing, (the maximum speed that was reached in this little bad experience was about 50 on a 70 road)

Please tell me your bad driving experinces to make me feel better.

No, Sorry you are banished from Z land.

So, I am not the only mad man up at 3:30am.

I can hear the birds tweeping.

I will get traction control, but other things needs to be done on the Z first

how could you do this on the lancs of all places where johnny and i are king of the urban street car terrorists and strike fear into the hearts of any east lancs traveller.is your car by any chance a white pearlescent one that turns off the lancs going into monton the other morning.

Sorry guyz, I also have a sad tail to tell.

One Sunday night about 2 years ago I was trying to get a race with an Escort Cosworth with alot of work done to it and nitrous and all that stuff. I pulled up alongside him at the lights, and I was on his outside, (Fast lane). Now my 91tt was totaly standard at the time, but I wanted to see how they went together. I looked at the driver and he smiled at me and them I just had a look around for any cops, when I spotz a Mini behind me, and the guys in it were putting on their s/belts, I laughed. The lights went green and myself and the cossie went up the road, flat out started gaining on the cossie about 80-90 mph, when I looked behind me all I could see was the same Mini headlights. I sh%T myself and pulled in behind the cossie too be passed by the mini, which went on to pass the cossie about 120mph. eek.gif That ended my racing fun on Sunday nights. The mini turned out to be some sort of turbo, out of an old metro or somthing. As i pulled back into the carpark, there were lots of people laughing. I asked wim would he do a swop, and he laughed ad said he only drove quick cars.

One of my friends went to Castle Combe track day on Saturady. He said there was a Mini there that was beating a Skyline down the straights. Went past it as if it was not there. That was a turbo, could hear the blow off value.

Also there is a dual engined Metro, knocking around with a straight line gearbox. So if you hear the whining noise you hear from Touring Cars coming from a Metro up your arse. Move over before you get embarassed.

Well, looks like I've been defending the Z camp pretty well this weekend. Got my car back after a major service and completely whooped a Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Cabrio.

Sweet.

I have to admit that I was once caught napping by an extremely fast Alfa 156 :-(

Andy

SRRAE.

YOU NEED TO MEET UP WITH TOOLEY, MYSELF AND THE OTHER Z GUYS AROUND THE MANC AREA.

I also have a confession. On the way home home from Warrington the other night, a Sierra Cossie got away from me. Not for long though as I took him at about 150. I've never seen it before so I don't know what it had done to it.

Two words for the dreaded wheel-spin...

Traction Control!

As I haven't driven my Z monster much, can't comment, had a neck & neck with a GTO TT on A55. Made me realise that I needed the edge when I do finally get my car back! So this is why I am preparing in advance with TC, engine & gearbox build, ASP underdrive pulley and a Techtom...Techtom gives an extra 20 BHP so I am led to believe...LMAO!!!

In de Merc Cossie however, I have been whooped at 130mph, well I wouldn't go so far as to describe it as a whooping, by an Audi TT. But did get my arse cained big time by a Toyota Camry V6. Merc. does weigh in at a monsterous 2 ton large for christs sake!

There, not telling anymore than that! Instead of telling about getting your arses kicked and bringing Z ownership into embarrassment, how about what you have cained?

;-)

Thats a good idea Tim smile.gif

The day after I got my car I cained an NSX off the lights. Pulled up beside him and he started laughing - wasn't laughing when I was in front of him though biggrin.gif

Andy

Good point Timmy me old mukka....

Least memorable.....Astra GTE givin it some on Dual carridgeway, With 4 boy racers in....I let it get along side me in the fast lane and then glanced across as my foot went heavy.....BYE BYE.....I could see the lads mates laughing at him as I watched him get smaller in the mirror... smile.gif

Most memorable.....Boxster at three sets of lights!! Third time the guy gave up... biggrin.gif He had a tasty bit of fluff in his motor too, she was casting her eyes over the Z then, Sop I told her to go fish somewhere else... smile.gif

I have dusted countless other cars but these are the ones that stand out most for some reason....

Rob.B

I need time to. Need to get rid of some surface rust on the Z. Nooo the killer. It is starting to look abit sorry. Get hold of it before it spreads like a skin rash.

Is there any Z s near me? I live in Wigan, about 30mins from Manchester and Liverpool. I know about you Dave in Liverpool.

There is a Z for sale in Wigan but it is a NA import and over priced. Seen a NA import in Southport too.

Never seen any other than mine in real life.

I need to know I am not alone.

Stu.

Did any of you boys get taken out by a Golf Rallye last weekend, it was a red Z on the M1 near Nottingham last Sunday.

My mate was in the Rallye said he took this Z at 140+ hes not too sure of the speed as his clock is in KPH. I fhtis was you do you have the courage to own up and hang your head in shame rolleyes.gif

Hi Guys

I have a confession to make, I was driving round the M25 and got overtaken by a plane coming out of Heathrow!!, don't know what they had done to it but he was off!!!LOL

Seriously though has anyone had any experience against these other so called Supercars?. When I first got my Z I had a dash against a Ferrari 355 spider. He pulled by the side of me with some young bimbo and laughed. After flooring both cars he was hardly creeping ahead!. He must have felt a bit of a chump after having spent all that money on his car and having a 10 year old nissan keeping up. My Zed was stock at the time, I would love to repeat this experience now I have made some performance improvements on my Jap Beast. Has anyone else made the challenge to one of these Italian Stallions and come out on top?

come on, time to do some bragging!!!

Simon H

CheerZ,

Andy

My best race was coming back from the Lakes on a long section of dual carriageway.

A TVR Chimera was racing a 911 in the outside lane.

I pulled out, caught 'em and overtook both at about 140! Yeeeeehaaa!

Shit my pants whilst doing it as there are usually pigs waiting around there.

Now that's what I wanna hear, Trevor and Porch in one hit! REZPECT DUE!
