After scouring the internet for a personalised wooden toy box for my son, I found the exact one I wanted, however I would get very little change from £250 after they added on all the extras (like paint... and his name... and the paint for his name...)

Anyway, I decided that was all bit of a rip off for what is essentially, just a box. So, decided to make one myself. I've done no woodwork since leaving school but loved it then just never had the time or space up until now.

So, just a few days at a couple hours a day after work and here is the result...

What do you all think? Personally I'm pretty darn chuffed :D

It's even been suggested by friends of mine that I start up a little side business lol.

Cheers

I thought that was a picture of the one you saw for £250 - excellent job!!!

That's cracking work! :thumbup1:

The closest I've ever come to doing any "woodwork" since leaving school was when I decided to replace all the decorative rails on the walls in an old house of mine. Not a bad attempt but I could always see little bits that niggled the hell out of me!

You should definitely be proud of yourself for this, mate!

Random little update on this. Turns out people want toy boxes!

I came up with the name TimberTotz, made a little facebook page, website and ebay listing and they're selling rather well indeed :)

Here's a few I've made and sold over the last few months:

Typically £125 plus £17.99 P&P. But some people add thing like embellishments, cushioned lids, painted inside etc. so those cost a bit more. :)
