I have changed the Roll bar bushes, and besides making the ride a hell of a lot better :D the clunk noise still happens. I have checked all the subframe bolts and they are all tight.

It happens when I go over small bumps slowly or turning tight corners. Its coming from the front drivers side. Any one have any ideas now :( getting desperate.

Upper link perhaps? (the top arms of the suspension)

AndyP had one of those fail twice, though I can't recall the symptoms at the moment.. (I'm sure his ears are burning now, so he'll pop up soon enough)..

Yup twice !!! No really obvious signs except MOT failure and uneven front tyre wear when it got really bad.

Top link - thats my thoughts - jack the front up and try to wobble the wheel pushing on the top and bottom - if there is a lot of play then you found your answer ;)

I have jacked it up and tried to wobble the wheel and it doesnt seem to move or make a noise. I did get a strange uneven tyre wear a few months ago. The outside of one tyre and the inside of the other went bald. But I think that was the track rod end which was replaced with my new tyres.

Stuart - aren't you somewhere oop norf, over the left hand side? Or am I making that up... if you are, I reckon you ought to pop over to mr Duff there and get him to have a look - it's a darned sight easier to diagnose things in person afterall..

Plus I'm fresh out of ideas now!

Stuart,

Qucik suggestion, get someone to have a quick gander at it whilst over at Grasshopper at the weekend, seeing as there'll be loads of people there!!

I may do Aaron. My car is getting decatted on Tuesday and I have asked them to look and see if they can see anything while its up.

On a lighter note I must recommend changing your roll bar bushes. Mine seemed ok but changing them my car seems so much better and more responsive in the steering and even going over bumps on the road, the car feels firmer and in a way softer. Firmer as in the car doesnt feel like its gonna shatter apart when going over a nasty bump and softer as the shock is more gradual and not a sudden thump like it was before.

Only cost £15 from the Zcentre. I phoned up Thursday about 1 ish and they arrived with the post next morning. Thats good service. :D

All ideas are welcome.

Its not any flap or gaurd catching, its a deffinate thud or clunk, you can feel it in the floor.

It may be the spring, Im thinking something on the suspention.

Stuart,

That sounds exactly the same as what mines doing, it started doing it only in the wet or when streering turned, but has got progressively worse. Feels like theres a tiny bit of play in something down by my feet somewhere (what a great technical description that is!)

I'm gonna get Jeff at Zedworld to have a look at mine, but if in the meantime you find out what it is can you post it so I can tell him what to check, and if i get mine sorted first i'll let you know.
