The most pointless waste of Human Life ever because what did ever achieve ?

I remember turning up at my mother's house and she was sat watching it all unfold on live TV. I thought she was watching some dodgy movie or something....

Can't believe how long ago this was. I was only 16, I'm 30 now! Time flies. RIP.

Sadly, there have been many far worse atrocities...

I was 22 at the time and I was working at the Ministry of Defence as a radar research analyst (first job out of University). I remember seeing it pop up on the BBC News website and the more I watched, the more shocked and sickened I became. Our site was immediately put on its highest alert; all cars and personnel entering and leaving were subject to a full search. I was on flexi-time and by the time 2pm was reached, I couldn't concentrate any further and went home.

 

What was worse was that less than a month earlier, I had flown in and out of the eastern United States and it completely screwed my brain.

I remember standing behind the counter in the car spares shop I ran watching the TV in the shop and customers just stopping and watching with us.....

One lady just ran out of the shop saying her son worked there.... frantically trying to call him on her mobile phone.... I didn't see her again so don't know if he made it.....

I just remember the sick feeling and everyone tearing up as they realised what was going on. Staff from other shops came in to watch what was going on as word got around as they knew we had a TV.....

It was a weird day of disbelief and shock that this was really happening..... the world changed that day as everyone saw what happened on live TV and all felt helpless..... Something I will never forget!

War suddenly stopped being armies with tanks and soldiers and became personal and civilian......
