Engine Fan

I just read a thread in which an electric engine fan was mentioned, am I missing something obvious here, as my z appears to have a pulley riven fan that runs whenever the engine is on.

Plase don't tell me that it is also electric and can run on with the car static as I'll have to rewire the bloody alarm Ive just finished!!

yup, theres also an electric fan for the a/c in front of the condensor.

But does this fan run with the engine switched off??

dont know for definate, looking at the manual there is a temp sensor at the front of the engine that switches the fan. best way of finding out is to short the connector to ground with the ignition on & off to see when the fan cuts in.

and its a 2 speed fan on a TT and speed and water temperature and aicon on/off related as well. But sorry I dont know if it stays on - mines certainly never has in 2 years as far as I know.

The electric fan is just an aid to the main fan. It'll come on in traffic jams or after you've switched the engine off maybe on a hard run. I've never heard mine cut in since I've had the Z and thats a couple of years!

Kinda.... The leccy fan is there for the AC condensor primarily - it is also used as an extra fan to aid the viscous coupled one under extreme conditions....

Well, half right isn't bad.

When I fitted my induction kit I discovered that one of the blades on the elec fan had wedged completely in the little oil rad in front of it! not good.
