Having spent just about every free day for the last 3 months on my stubburn Z and its reluctance to show any improvment im starting to lose my enthusiasm and love for it.

Would it be wise to destroy it and buy a 200sx?

 

I Know nothing about them, are they very quick? How do they handle? mpg? Running costs?

Are they simpler to tune?

 

Any info would be much appreciated.

I don't know what garages you have been to or what problems you have with it, but you maybe want to drag it over to Darren in kent. A long trek but well worth, he is the most knowledgeable person I have ever met regarding Z's, he won Nissans Uk mechanic of the year two years running and nearly won the european comp as well. Failing that try and get someone with a ConZult analyser!

 

He is also extremely reasonable!

 

I have a 200 and a Z and I like the 200 its a great car, but every time I get in a Z, it brings a smile to my FACE:D

200's are a great car. especially the S14. They do seem to be a bit more tail happy than the Z. 0-60 difference is 0.5 secs for the Auto Z vs Manual 200. although it seemed closer when we did it here recently.

 

Touring S14a can now be picked up quite reasonably.

 

Which is better??

 

I'd have to say the Z

i own a 200sx and i dont think they are tail happy at all ,

 

my Z is a lot more tail happy then the sx

 

At the moment mine is up for sale on a V plate , 99 model ,

 

red , FSH , 14 months warranty and is immaculate , nothing needs doing at all , only reason i need to sell it is my missus says i cantt own both so she wants a new car for herself , if you want a look at it m8 drop us a email ,

 

its up for around 8200

Loved both my S13 and S14. Felt nippier than the Zed but definately not as fast. More chuckable though and a damn site easier and cheaper to maintain.

200sx is a very nice car , but ask yourself, do you want to drive about in something that looks exotic and most of the unwashed public think is some kind of lambo or ferrari, (if you don't have any nissan badging as on the imports!!) or do you want to drive a technically exellent car that looks like a boring souped up Jap saloon???

 

Hmmm.... the choice is of course yours, maybe I'm a poser, but the ZX does it for me (until I can afford a real ferrari/lambo anyway!!)

The 200SX has a stealth/surprise element, and is a wolf in sheep's clothing - I like that.;)

 

When driving the Z, I feel a little self-conscious sometimes - like I am trying to make a big statement. I like posing, but the 300 can be a bit much/OTT ?? IMHO opinion, the 300 is not an ideal everyday round town car - a 200 is great for all kinds of driving.

fell in love because of the driver and the car:cool:

 

it is a raw car to drive, wicked fun though, not very refined, engine & interior, and does skate round corners

 

the newer one is bit boring to look at, and I would have bought one, they were doing some good deals on finance

 

then found the 300zx

 

woohoo, it's really a spaceship, and is a dream to drive, maybe it is "posey" (especially wif tints lol)just feels more of a solid car

 

I like both and are both great fun cars, need to trust your gut, my choice is the 300zx, tho i hanker for those pop up lights sometimes:D

Yes some men do LOVE their cars a little toooooooo much. A very good friend of mine works in a clinic, and yes they get men coming in for treatment for getting things stuck in places they have no business in being. Abrasions, burns and even sometimes with parts of their bodies still stuck inside a part of the car.

 

Exhausts have been metioned a few times.

 

Explain that one to the wife or girlfriend if you can:D :D .

 

So becareful where you put yourself.
