Roof trims fitting, how on earth!

Right trying to fit some new roof trims see picture, below.

 

My questions is how on earth do you put the grey trim onto those clips? Do you fit the mounting lugs into the trim off the vehicle and then push and slide the clips/trim into place?

 

I have nearly got there by sliding the trim onto the white fixings, but I can not get the last end cap to then slide into postition into the end of the grey trim. image.jpg
