Dose this mean out stock turbos' can take 17.4 psi?????????

Car of Origin: Nissan Gloria, 300ZX

Engine: VG30DET

Flange: Four-bolt T3 style

Max. Power Rating: 190kW

Max. Boost: 1.2bar (17.4psi)

Cover Size: AR not identified

Comments: Apparently, these are slightly larger in exhaust housing size than the RB25, but have a fractionally smaller and different trim compressor. Information on these is sketchy, but due to their almost unknown application they are easier to find than the RB25 roller. A good choice, particularly if you put the RB25 compressor and cover straight on. In excess of 200kW have been produced with this combination.

Cost: Fractionally cheaper than the RB25 turbo and not as hard to get. They have been advertised at $650.

Rating: Four out of five

It suggests that the turbos can before they break up, how the rest of the engine copes is a different matter !

but earlier in the article it says that the VG30DETT uses twin T25's which have a max of 1 bar??

Ooops - just noticed what he posted - Engine: VG30DET !!! - Z31

Are 300's called Gloria's in Japan ?

I thought the turbo on a 200SX was bigger than the turbo's on a 300 - the diffference being that a 300 has TWO. This would explain the larger turbo lag on a 200 ?

:confused:

A Gloria is something different entirely Nelson - the 300 is the Fairlady in Japan..

And I believe the 200's use a T28, which is larger yes (but there's only one)

The 300's turbos will push out 17psi fairly happily, albeit with a shorter lifetime - BUT at that pressure they tend to simply heat up the air rather than compress it with any efficiency, which means you are into diminishing returns power wise - not to mention that hotter charge = greater risk of detonation.

Basically, above about 15psi, you are going to need larger turbos to really get the benefit from the boost pressure, without risking blowing up your engine..(You'd need bigger injectors anyway)

s13 = t25

s14 = t28

Thankyou for the correction Jezz - the s13 was the CA18 engine wasn't it, and s14 the SR20?

Yeah in UK.

There are some imported Jap S13's with SR20's, and the yanks had KA24's (N/A truck lump LOL ) in both S14 and S13.
