Advice on Engine Capability

I purchased a newly built engine about a 2 years ago with the following spec

Full Bottom end rebuild

Balanced and honed

Wisco 88mm Pistons

ARP Main & Stud Kit

NGK Sparks

Cometic head gasket

what kinda power could a engine of this type handle safely without me starting to worry.... I have the supporting mods to get more power now but im concerned to what the engine can actually handle.... before i start fitting the turbos and injectors etc etc..... what can it do?

Was it a mistake not having the rods also?

Thanks in advance

It depends on the planned usage of the car. Uprated rods are only really required if you're looking for a (relatively) high-revving engine, heavy track use or serious power levels with prolonged reliability. They are forged as stock, but obviously heavier than aftermarket items.

Depending on the turbos you choose, a solid 500-550bhp should be achievable with good longevity. There are so many variables, the power levels that are "comfortable" depend so much on the overall setup.

Another major variable is how well the engine has been built in the first place. If this is an unknown, I'd suggest taking it to Jimmer/PowerZed for a full strip down, assessment and reassemble.

That's the question, i keep here conflicting reports that the original rods were not forged...... some people say they are and others say no they're not

Id be happy with 500 to 550bhp all day long and my cars purely a weekend fun car, i don't go crazy with it

Shes running 400bhp now quite easily and it seems pretty solid, hasint skipped a beat

Budget unfortunately restricts me paying for it to be assessed as iv blown that all on turbos and various other bits so i'm trying to make a calculative decision on what we know so i can decide on how much to push the engine to

OEM rods & crank are forged from the factory. Pistons were cast.
