Folks,

I'm having some MAJOR stress trying to get a decent quote on a jap import TT.

For a 27 year old, with 3 years NCB, 1 theft claim, I'm being quoted almost a grand on the dot....and this is for TPF&T!

Can anyone point me to someone who won't commit day time, legal robbery, and instead will give me a reasonable quote???

Andy D, why oh why did you decide to put your car up for grabs. It's causing me nothing but stress and sleepless nights!

Try Tesco's they are supposed to be good for imports,if not look in the back of Japanese Performance Mag and the like.

Good luck,

F.T.

Tesco's gave me the most extortionate quote (fink it was some thing like lil under £2k TPF&T).

But, the jap performance mag idea is a great one.

Thanks

Try Firebond.

They are really cheap.

Mines a jap import TT auto and I pay about £400 but that with 6000 miles a year only.

You will have to put a cat 1 though. (I think)

Phone them on 0870 444 0556

Try Lifesure in St Neots, Cambs.

They were really cheap for me and the policy comes pretty damn loaded too, includes breakdown cover and free rental car hotline service.

I`m 30 with 3 yrs no claims and the job lot set me back a shade under £750

footman james did me at 488 fully comp, 28 with 6 years ncb and no points

no garage or tracker required either like some companys i laughed at.

It's a London thing mate - insuring mine is a nightmare too. I'm trying to sort out some sort of club scheme (but it's proving a nightmare). Call Livingstones on 0845-1223006 and ask for Jason. Tell your from this forum and see what he can do. Can you let me know how competitive he is?

Good luck,

Vijay

TSB for some strange reason they are reduculasly cheap/

I'm with Firebomb a.k.a. Firebond but as far as I'm aware they won't do the classic policy deal on imports.

My insurance on my modified Z is the lowest I've EVER had on any performance car. Limited mileage though but a good deal none the less. I think I'm paying about 350 all in.

Fully Comp! Class!

That's with all mods declared which include zorst, intake, ECU upgrade, wheels, bodykit, TC (Traction Control) etc. etc.

I think that some on here with imports have gone with The Insurance Factory as they have been reasonable. Afraid I don't have any contact details, but am sure someone will be able to supply them. :)

Anita.

Try Adrian Flux.

They've got me at £1500 p.a. Fully Comp with modifications declared.

And that's with me being 24, 3 points AND a ban on my record!!! naughty TVR.. bad TVR....

Had a bit of a mare with the insurance factory - but they might do right by you.

Osbournes (Link Motor Policies) 0208-388-6000

I am with Aplan at the moment. They have been very helpful so far but I still have not had my insurance certificate through yet. I have asked them many times. I got my policy 6 months ago, I just hope I dont get a producer.

Alps, I'm 26 got 5yrs NCB, SE London postcode and pay approx £760 fully comp via Adrian Flux - Z not garaged and no Tracker(Thatch Cat 1 however).

As Ajay said many import peeps used Insurance Factory, I did, but they never once sent me a current cover note during the 5 months I was insured with them(so I had probs getting tax) and as I was paying monthly when the policy was cancelled, they never told the finance company the policy was cancelled. So the finance co started chasing me for the monthly payments!!

I think Glen(Senna) had some probs getting some money back after cancelling with them, and I think Mark(Topless) was waiting a while for a cover note to be sent to him

Adrian flux quoted me £2144 - I'm 31 with 9 years ncb living in NW London and not garaged - I just don't get this insurance thing. I assume it's the mods, but it's still a joke!!

Vijay

I think it depends who you speak to, the colour of the sky, whether there is an R in the month, and how many cups of coffee the person you speak to has had so far that day..

Either that, or they just have a chart of numbers, and they blindfold someone and get them to stick a pin in...

Thanks to everyone who's helped me on this one.

I've spent literally the best part of the day calling up insurance co's. If I was to tell you about some of the quotes I got (TPF&T) you'd be shocked beyond all belief!

But to cut a massive story short, the way things are looking I'm gonna have to give Andy D's car a miss :-(

I'm gonna give it one more smash tomorrow.

I agree with who ever said that "you never know with insurance co's".

I'm even frustrated as I type this post out!!!

Have you not tried getting it on Classic insurance?

Also TSB? Did you try them. http://www.lloydstsb.com

AFTER I got mine I found this and found it to be half the price od mine.

I tried TSB...they said that they didn't insure Jap imports.

I'll give Adrian Flux a call tomorrow. In fact, I think that if it doesn't work out for me tomorrow on a Jap import I'll just have to find that elusive manual UK car.

Someone did say that it's not possible to get classic insurance on an import car!!! Can anyone varify???

Looyds/TSB would be no good for Andy's car as they don't touch mods at all (at least that's what they told me today) :(

Did you ring Livingstones?

Vijay

Give Barclays or Barclaycard (numbers on AndyPs Site) a try, they have both insured me on a modified import, good price also.

I'll add them to my list of co's to call. I think my fone bill at the end of next month is gonna prob be the same price as the insurance!!!

But, I've been told that due to my age & location etc, clouds in the sky, voices in the insurance directors head etc I will find it very difficult getting insured on a Jap import... What a load of c**P, I mean whats the difference between a UK and Import car when some friggin tea leaf is going to nick it... He aint gonna care where the car came from!

Vijay, where bouts in London do you live mate? (you are in London, right?)

I've just read back my posting and realised how frustrated i really sound... (sighhhhhhhh)

N - Near Tottenham.

I've just been told by an insurance co that due to me havin a 'North London' postcode I can forget about gettin a reasonable quote on a zed...in fact, I should be lucky to be quoted at all!!!
