Since I re-taxed and started using the Zed again this month (after a winter hibernation), when cold, and for the first 3-5 miles of town driving, it seems, under gentle acceleration to hesitate at just under 2k revs, for a few seconds, as if misfiring, and will continue unless I change gear or put the foot on the accelerator, which seems to overcome it and is then fine..until the next acceleration. Once warm, its not there, so my obvious thoughts are something is sticking or restricting flow of either fuel or air. Its a new issue that I can only guess has arisen from being off the road for five months. Any thoughts?

agree with Joel... but harness connections are the first thing to check... make sure they're good and rust free..

the symptoms point to the ecu temp sender unit (the two pronged one)... check its connector and if still an issue thing about changing it..

good luck.

I am planning a full service anyway - plugs, oil, fuel filter and so it sounds like I can ask the garage to check the harness connections also.

Don't waste time making guesses, just get it diagnosed via Consult first & foremost, then have the AFR checked if the sensor outputs are correct :)

Or maybe the Zed could use a run up to Bristol! Good idea - I'll pm you after the Easter hols.
