Mick,

I had the same problem but cured it very easily and cheaply by painting the strips.

I used good old Hammerite black(hammered finish),a small brush and lots of making tape.A few coats later and it looks really good.

did you remove all of the old plastic trim before painting or did you just tidy up the edges.

if so did you paint the whole strip or just the part that had peeled off?

Thanks

Mick.

Mick,

I tidied up the edges then just painted the Hammerite on,being as its quite thick then after a few coats you cant see where the plastic ends and the metal begins.

I have seen a Z with all the plastic coating removed exposing the bright metal underneath, but I dont know how they did that.

Cheers,

F.T.

Cheers guys,

as I was wondering what to do with the same dilema.

It always pays to read an other persons problem.

appreciated.

Also make sure you mask right up to the edge and its stuck down well, otherwise you'll be trying to clean Hammerite off your lovely paintwork(as I did on a few occasins!!)

do they come off and go back on easily?

Only if you work for the RAC windscreen division, otherwise I wouldn't bother. Just mask it up it will look just as good.

when using hammerite. should i get the smooth or hammerd affect.

I would have thought smooth would be a better match but Fat Tony said hammered?

I used the hammered finish because I'm a lazy b*****d and couldnt be bothered to make sure that there are no edges(between plastic and metal)that would show up more with the smooth finish.

does it look ok? do you have any pics.

Mick,

It looks fine, doesnt look out of place.I havent got any pic's I'm afraid.

Where in Surrey are you?

F.T.

Ewell, Very close to Epsom and sutton. are you also in Surrey?

No I'm in Hampshire but next to Surrey border near Camberley.

Work near to Ewell, Coulsdon, you would'nt happen to have a black 300 with F'in large spolier on the back that I've seen in the area? Or at the Fairmile in Cobham last night, looked like a mini Jap car meet. Sorry unrelated to your prob though!

I drive a black 300, no big spoiler only the standard one.

what 300 do you drive, ive seen a few around he area.

Standard ish, Mongoose exhuast. Chuffin nice sound. drive through Ewell when the M25 is closed or on Saturday mornings after a night out on the razz in Croydon. There would seem to be a few in the Coulsdon area.
