Managed to do some work on the poor old zed the other day, installed the fmic and fired her up only to be greeted by a loud tapping as she's running, it increases speed with the revs and sounds like it's coming from the top of the engine to the rear near the firewall.

She was running fine before nice and smooth , just a little smokey from the pcv valves. Not been run for about two months now, any ideas?

Tappets - the oil has drained out of them. It's something that happens to a lot of cars that are left for long periods. It'll be fine once up to temperature and the tappets have been purged.

As Si has said many me did the same recently and was puzzling me but once up to temperature she was purring. Just needs time for everything to circulate.
