Hmmm can anyone help me if they had this problem or am I losing my mind. Sometimes when i turn my AC on my 92z I start to smell gasoline. I believe I'm not suppose to smell gasoline when i turn on the AC. Fortunalely this doesn't happen all the time. It mostly happens in the morning when I start my car. Am I messing around with the ac buttons and I have no idea what I'm doing or is it something worst. Give me your opinion

Fuel leak in the engine bay somewhere?

look around and tighten all the fuel lines up.

It's a very common problem. I suggest the following :

1) Tighten all of the clamps on the petrol hoses under the bonnet

2) If this doesn't solve it, start the car up first thing in the morning and look at the fuel pressure regulator and damper. You may see fuel leaking. If you wait until it's warm though, it will stop and the fuel will have evaporated

3) If neither of these solve it, you probably need new fuel hoses. It's not that expensive and just a little bit fiddly. Really important to get high pressure fuel line and not any other type.

Good luck !

Dave

I think the cold weather sometimes causes leaks in the fuel lines, so yes, check all hoses & connections (this post was just to provide a possible explanation, rather than tread on 300z's toes). Always remember: I know nothing.

the one that is underneath the fuel pressure regulator is a blighter. That hose goes to the full injector rail. Fuel runs down under it so you just cant see it. Then runs down the back of the engine onto the floor under the car. When you first find it you think the fpr is stuffed cos it appears to be coming from it. Its not, its just that the clip under it is not easy to get a screwdriver to. You got to take off the trim cover over the throttle cables to see it properly.

Look under the car next time an you might see the fuel. Once warmed up the pipe seals again.

Try selecting econ instead with your aircon - sounds like you are switching aircon off totally with no ventilation at all. Still even with econ and no chilled dry air you will still suck in fuel fumes.

I just tightened up last year but I now get a fuel whiff now and again when its cold so maybe I should change the hoses now.

I get the same problem.

I will check for fuel leaks on cold and tighten the pipes. Without even knowing it you gys have helped me once again. I'm greatful.

Thanks
